| 3 Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. | G UIQRE EBRAM ETh-ShM-BNU ANULD-LU EShR-ILDA-LU ShRA ITsChQ | ג ויקרא אברהם את-שם-בנו הנולד-לו אשר-ילדה-לו שרה יצחק | ||
| 4 Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. | D UIML EBRAM ETh-ITsChQ BNU BN-ShMNTh IMIM KEShR TsUA EThU ELAIM | ד וימל אברהם את-יצחק בנו בן-שמנת ימים כאשר צוה אתו אלהים | ||
| 5 Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born to him. | A UEBRAM BN-METh ShNA BAULD LU ETh ITsChQ BNU | ה ואברהם בן-מאת שנה בהולד לו את יצחק בנו | ||
| 6 Sarah said: 'God has made laughter for me; every one that hears will laugh on account of me.' | U UThEMR ShRA TsChQ OShA LI ELAIM KL-AShMO ITsChQ-LI | ו ותאמר שרה צחק עשה לי אלהים כל-השמע יצחק-לי | ||

| 12 God said to Abraham: 'Let it not be grievous in your sight because of the lad, and because of your bondwoman; in all that Sarah says to you, hearken to her voice; for in Isaac shall seed be called to you. | IB UIEMR ELAIM EL-EBRAM EL-IRO BOINIK OL-ANOR UOL-EMThK KL EShR ThEMR ELIK ShRA ShMO BQLA KI BITsChQ IQRE LK ZRO | יב ויאמר אלהים אל-אברהם אל-ירע בעיניך על-הנער ועל-אמתך כל אשר תאמר אליך שרה שמע בקלה כי ביצחק יקרא לך זרע | ||
| 13 Also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is your seed.' | IG UGM ETh-BN-AEMA LGUI EShIMNU KI ZROK AUE | יג וגם את-בן-האמה לגוי אשימנו כי זרעך הוא | ||
| 14 Abraham arose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away; and she departed, and strayed in the wilderness of Beer-sheba. | ID UIShKM EBRAM BBQR UIQCh-LChM UChMTh MIM UIThN EL-AGR ShM OL-ShKMA UETh-AILD UIShLChA UThLK UThThO BMDBR BER ShBO | יד וישכם אברהם בבקר ויקח-לחם וחמת מים ויתן אל-הגר שם על-שכמה ואת-הילד וישלחה ותלך ותתע במדבר באר שבע | ||
| 15 The water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. | TU UIKLU AMIM MN-AChMTh UThShLK ETh-AILD ThChTh EChD AShIChM | טו ויכלו המים מן-החמת ותשלך את-הילד תחת אחד השיחם | ||
| 16 She went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow-shot; for she said: 'Let me not look on the death of the child.' | 19 God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. | IT UIFQCh ELAIM ETh-OINIA UThRE BER MIM UThLK UThMLE ETh-AChMTh MIM UThShQ ETh-ANOR | יט ויפקח אלהים את-עיניה ותרא באר מים ותלך ותמלא את-החמת מים ותשק את-הנער | ||
| 20 God was with the lad, and he grew; and he dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. | K UIAI ELAIM ETh-ANOR UIGDL UIShB BMDBR UIAI RBA QShTh | כ ויהי אלהים את-הנער ויגדל וישב במדבר ויהי רבה קשת | ||
| 21 He dwelt in the wilderness of Paran; and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt. | KE UIShB BMDBR FERN UThQCh-LU EMU EShA MERTs MTsRIM | כא וישב במדבר פארן ותקח-לו אמו אשה מארץ מצרים | ||
| 22 It came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his host spoke to Abraham, saying: 'God is with you in all that you do. | KB UIAI BOTh AAUE UIEMR EBIMLK UFIKL ShR-TsBEU EL-EBRAM LEMR ELAIM OMK BKL EShR-EThA OShA | כב ויהי בעת ההוא ויאמר אבימלך ופיכל שר-צבאו אל-אברהם לאמר אלהים עמך בכל אשר-אתה עשה | ||
| 23 Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son; but according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land wherein you have sojourned.' | KG UOThA AShBOA LI BELAIM ANA EM-ThShQR LI ULNINI ULNKDI KChSD EShR-OShIThI OMK ThOShA OMDI UOM-AERTs EShR-GRThA BA | כג ועתה השבעה לי באלהים הנה אם-תשקר לי ולניני ולנכדי כחסד אשר-עשיתי עמך תעשה עמדי ועם-הארץ אשר-גרתה בה | ||

| 25 Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away. | KA UAUKCh EBRAM ETh-EBIMLK OL-EDUTh BER AMIM EShR GZLU OBDI EBIMLK | כה והוכח אברהם את-אבימלך על-אדות באר המים אשר גזלו עבדי אבימלך | ||
| 26 Abimelech said: 'I know not who has done this thing; neither didst you tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to-day.' | KU UIEMR EBIMLK LE IDOThI MI OShA ETh-ADBR AZA UGM-EThA LE-AGDTh LI UGM ENKI LE ShMOThI BLThI AIUM | כו ויאמר אבימלך לא ידעתי מי עשה את-הדבר הזה וגם-אתה לא-הגדת לי וגם אנכי לא שמעתי בלתי היום | ||
| 27 Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them to Abimelech; and they two made a covenant. | KZ UIQCh EBRAM TsEN UBQR UIThN LEBIMLK UIKRThU ShNIAM BRITh | כז ויקח אברהם צאן ובקר ויתן לאבימלך ויכרתו שניהם ברית | ||
| 28 Abraham set seven ewe-lambs of the flock by themselves. | KCh UITsB EBRAM ETh-ShBO KBShTh ATsEN LBDAN | כח ויצב אברהם את-שבע כבשת הצאן לבדהן | ||
| 29 Abimelech said to Abraham: 'What mean these seven ewe-lambs which you have set by themselves?' | KT UIEMR EBIMLK EL-EBRAM MA ANA ShBO KBShTh AELA EShR ATsBTh LBDNA | כט ויאמר אבימלך אל-אברהם מה הנה שבע כבשת האלה אשר הצבת לבדנה | ||
| 30 He said: 'Verily, these seven ewe-lambs shall you take of my hand, that it may be a witness to me, that I have dug this well.' | L UIEMR KI ETh-ShBO KBShTh ThQCh MIDI BOBUR ThAIA-LI LODA KI ChFRThI ETh-ABER AZETh | ל ויאמר כי את-שבע כבשת תקח מידי בעבור תהיה-לי לעדה כי חפרתי את-הבאר הזאת | ||
| 31 Wherefore that place was called Beer-sheba; because there they swore both of them. | LE OL-KN QRE LMQUM AAUE BER ShBO KI ShM NShBOU ShNIAM | לא על-כן קרא למקום ההוא באר שבע כי שם נשבעו שניהם | ||
