| 4 If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food; | D EM-IShK MShLCh ETh-EChINU EThNU NRDA UNShBRA LK EKL | ד אם-ישך משלח את-אחינו אתנו נרדה ונשברה לך אכל | ||
| 5 but if you will not send him, we will not go down, for the man said to us: You shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.' | A UEM-EINK MShLCh LE NRD KI-AEISh EMR ELINU LE-ThREU FNI BLThI EChIKM EThKM | ה ואם-אינך משלח לא נרד כי-האיש אמר אלינו לא-תראו פני בלתי אחיכם אתכם | ||
| 6 Israel said: 'Wherefore dealt you so ill with me, as to tell the man whether you had yet a brother?' | U UIEMR IShREL LMA AROThM LI LAGID LEISh AOUD LKM ECh | ו ויאמר ישראל למה הרעתם לי להגיד לאיש העוד לכם אח | ||

| 9 I will be surety for him; of my hand shall you require him; if I bring him not to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for ever. | T ENKI EORBNU MIDI ThBQShNU EM-LE ABIEThIU ELIK UATsGThIU LFNIK UChTEThI LK KL-AIMIM | ט אנכי אערבנו מידי תבקשנו אם-לא הביאתיו אליך והצגתיו לפניך וחטאתי לך כל-הימים | ||
| 10 For except we had lingered, surely we had now returned a second time.' | I KI LULE AThMAMANU KI-OThA ShBNU ZA FOMIM | י כי לולא התמהמהנו כי-עתה שבנו זה פעמים | ||
| 11 Their father Israel said to them: 'If it be so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spice and myrrh, nuts, and almonds; | IE UIEMR ELAM IShREL EBIAM EM-KN EFUE ZETh OShU QChU MZMRTh AERTs BKLIKM UAURIDU LEISh MNChA MOT TsRI UMOT DBSh NKETh ULT BTNIM UShQDIM | יא ויאמר אלהם ישראל אביהם אם-כן אפוא זאת עשו קחו מזמרת הארץ בכליכם והורידו לאיש מנחה מעט צרי ומעט דבש נכאת ולט בטנים ושקדים | ||

| 13 take also your brother, and arise, go again to the man; | IG UETh-EChIKM QChU UQUMU ShUBU EL-AEISh | יג ואת-אחיכם קחו וקומו שובו אל-האיש | ||
| 14 and God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. As for me, if I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.' | ID UEL ShDI IThN LKM RChMIM LFNI AEISh UShLCh LKM ETh-EChIKM EChR UETh-BNIMIN UENI KEShR ShKLThI ShKLThI | יד ואל שדי יתן לכם רחמים לפני האיש ושלח לכם את-אחיכם אחר ואת-בנימין ואני כאשר שכלתי שכלתי | ||
| 15 The men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph. | TU UIQChU AENShIM ETh-AMNChA AZETh UMShNA-KSF LQChU BIDM UETh-BNIMN UIQMU UIRDU MTsRIM UIOMDU LFNI IUSF | טו ויקחו האנשים את-המנחה הזאת ומשנה-כסף לקחו בידם ואת-בנימן ויקמו וירדו מצרים ויעמדו לפני יוסף | ||

| 17 The man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house. | IZ UIOSh AEISh KEShR EMR IUSF UIBE AEISh ETh-AENShIM BIThA IUSF | יז ויעש האיש כאשר אמר יוסף ויבא האיש את-האנשים ביתה יוסף | ||
| 18 The men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said: 'Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall on us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.' | ICh UIIREU AENShIM KI AUBEU BITh IUSF UIEMRU OL-DBR AKSF AShB BEMThChThINU BThChLA ENChNU MUBEIM LAThGLL OLINU ULAThNFL OLINU ULQChTh EThNU LOBDIM UETh-ChMRINU | יח וייראו האנשים כי הובאו בית יוסף ויאמרו על-דבר הכסף השב באמתחתינו בתחלה אנחנו מובאים להתגלל עלינו ולהתנפל עלינו ולקחת אתנו לעבדים ואת-חמרינו | ||
| 19 They came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they spoke to him at the door of the house, | IT UIGShU EL-AEISh EShR OL-BITh IUSF UIDBRU ELIU FThCh ABITh | יט ויגשו אל-האיש אשר על-בית יוסף וידברו אליו פתח הבית | ||
| 20 and said: 'O my lord, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food. | K UIEMRU BI EDNI IRD IRDNU BThChLA LShBR-EKL | כ ויאמרו בי אדני ירד ירדנו בתחלה לשבר-אכל | ||
| 21 It came to pass, when we came to the lodging-place, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight; and we have brought it back in our hand. | KE UIAI KI-BENU EL-AMLUN UNFThChA ETh-EMThChThINU UANA KSF-EISh BFI EMThChThU KSFNU BMShQLU UNShB EThU BIDNU | כא ויהי כי-באנו אל-המלון ונפתחה את-אמתחתינו והנה כסף-איש בפי אמתחתו כספנו במשקלו ונשב אתו בידנו | ||
| 22 Other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food. We know not who put our money in our sacks.' | KB UKSF EChR AURDNU BIDNU LShBR-EKL LE IDONU MI-ShM KSFNU BEMThChThINU | כב וכסף אחר הורדנו בידנו לשבר-אכל לא ידענו מי-שם כספנו באמתחתינו | ||
| 23 He said: 'Peace be to you, fear not; your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money.' | 24 The man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender. | KD UIBE AEISh ETh-AENShIM BIThA IUSF UIThN-MIM UIRChTsU RGLIAM UIThN MSFUE LChMRIAM | כד ויבא האיש את-האנשים ביתה יוסף ויתן-מים וירחצו רגליהם ויתן מספוא לחמריהם | ||
| 25 They made ready the present against Joseph's coming at noon; for they heard that they should eat bread there. | KA UIKINU ETh-AMNChA OD-BUE IUSF BTsARIM KI ShMOU KI-ShM IEKLU LChM | כה ויכינו את-המנחה עד-בוא יוסף בצהרים כי שמעו כי-שם יאכלו לחם | ||
| 26 When Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed down to him to the earth. | KU UIBE IUSF ABIThA UIBIEU LU ETh-AMNChA EShR-BIDM ABIThA UIShThChUU-LU ERTsA | כו ויבא יוסף הביתה ויביאו לו את-המנחה אשר-בידם הביתה וישתחוו-לו ארצה | ||
| 27 He asked them of their welfare, and said: 'Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he yet alive?' | KZ UIShEL LAM LShLUM UIEMR AShLUM EBIKM AZQN EShR EMRThM AOUDNU ChI | כז וישאל להם לשלום ויאמר השלום אביכם הזקן אשר אמרתם העודנו חי | ||
| 28 They said: 'Your servant our father is well, he is yet alive.' They bowed the head, and made obeisance. | KCh UIEMRU ShLUM LOBDK LEBINU OUDNU ChI UIQDU UIShThChU (UIShThChUU) | כח ויאמרו שלום לעבדך לאבינו עודנו חי ויקדו וישתחו (וישתחוו) | ||
| 29 He lifted up his eyes, and saw Benjamin his brother, his mother's son, and said: 'Is this your youngest brother of whom you spoke to me?' | 34 Portions were taken to them from before him; but Benjamin's portion was five times so much as any of theirs.
