The Offering of Isaac | ||||
| 1 It came to pass after these things, that God did prove Abraham, and said to him: 'Abraham'; and he said: 'Here am I.' | E UIAI EChR ADBRIM AELA UAELAIM NSA ETh-EBRAM UIEMR ELIU EBRAM UIEMR ANNI | א ויהי אחר הדברים האלה והאלהים נסה את-אברהם ויאמר אליו אברהם ויאמר הנני | ||
| 2 He said: 'Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and get you into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.' | B UIEMR QCh-NE ETh-BNK ETh-IChIDK EShR-EABTh ETh-ITsChQ ULK-LK EL-ERTs AMRIA UAOLAU ShM LOLA OL EChD AARIM EShR EMR ELIK | ב ויאמר קח-נא את-בנך את-יחידך אשר-אהבת את-יצחק ולך-לך אל-ארץ המריה והעלהו שם לעלה על אחד ההרים אשר אמר אליך | ||
| 3 Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he cleaved the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him. | G UIShKM EBRAM BBQR UIChBSh ETh-ChMRU UIQCh ETh-ShNI NORIU EThU UETh ITsChQ BNU UIBQO OTsI OLA UIQM UILK EL-AMQUM EShR-EMR-LU AELAIM | ג וישכם אברהם בבקר ויחבש את-חמרו ויקח את-שני נעריו אתו ואת יצחק בנו ויבקע עצי עלה ויקם וילך אל-המקום אשר-אמר-לו האלהים | ||
| 4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. | D BIUM AShLIShI UIShE EBRAM ETh-OINIU UIRE ETh-AMQUM MRChQ | ד ביום השלישי וישא אברהם את-עיניו וירא את-המקום מרחק | ||
| 5 Abraham said to his young men: 'Abide you here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder; and we will worship, and come back to you.' | A UIEMR EBRAM EL-NORIU ShBU-LKM FA OM-AChMUR UENI UANOR NLKA OD-KA UNShThChUA UNShUBA ELIKM | ה ויאמר אברהם אל-נעריו שבו-לכם פה עם-החמור ואני והנער נלכה עד-כה ונשתחוה ונשובה אליכם | ||
| 6 Abraham took the wood of the burnt-offering, and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took in his hand the fire and the knife; and they went both of them together. | U UIQCh EBRAM ETh-OTsI AOLA UIShM OL-ITsChQ BNU UIQCh BIDU ETh-AESh UETh-AMEKLTh UILKU ShNIAM IChDU | ו ויקח אברהם את-עצי העלה וישם על-יצחק בנו ויקח בידו את-האש ואת-המאכלת וילכו שניהם יחדו | ||
| 7 Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said: 'My father.' He said: 'Here am I, my son.' | 8 Abraham said: 'God will provide Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son.' So they went both of them together. | Ch UIEMR EBRAM ELAIM IREA-LU AShA LOLA BNI UILKU ShNIAM IChDU | ח ויאמר אברהם אלהים יראה-לו השה לעלה בני וילכו שניהם יחדו | ||

| 10 Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. | I UIShLCh EBRAM ETh-IDU UIQCh ETh-AMEKLTh LShChT ETh-BNU | י וישלח אברהם את-ידו ויקח את-המאכלת לשחט את-בנו | ||
| 11 The angel of IAUA called to him out of heaven, and said: 'Abraham, Abraham.' He said: 'Here am I.' | IE UIQRE ELIU MLEK IAUA MN-AShMIM UIEMR EBRAM EBRAM UIEMR ANNI | יא ויקרא אליו מלאך יהוה מן-השמים ויאמר אברהם אברהם ויאמר הנני | ||

| 13 Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. | 14 Abraham called the name of that place IAUA-irea; as it is said to this day: 'In the mount where IAUA is seen.' | ID UIQRE EBRAM ShM-AMQUM AAUE IAUA IREA EShR IEMR AIUM BAR IAUA IREA | יד ויקרא אברהם שם-המקום ההוא יהוה יראה אשר יאמר היום בהר יהוה יראה | ||
| 15 The angel of IAUA called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, | TU UIQRE MLEK IAUA EL-EBRAM ShNITh MN-AShMIM | טו ויקרא מלאך יהוה אל-אברהם שנית מן-השמים | ||
| 16 and said: 'By Myself have I sworn, says IAUA, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son, | TZ UIEMR BI NShBOThI NEM-IAUA KI ION EShR OShITh ETh-ADBR AZA ULE ChShKTh ETh-BNK ETh-IChIDK | טז ויאמר בי נשבעתי נאם-יהוה כי יען אשר עשית את-הדבר הזה ולא חשכת את-בנך את-יחידך | ||
| 17 that in blessing I will bless you, and in increasing I will increase your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; | IZ KI-BRK EBRKK UARBA ERBA ETh-ZROK KKUKBI AShMIM UKChUL EShR OL-ShFTh AIM UIRSh ZROK ETh ShOR EIBIU | יז כי-ברך אברכך והרבה ארבה את-זרעך ככוכבי השמים וכחול אשר על-שפת הים וירש זרעך את שער איביו | ||
| 18 and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have hearkened to My voice.' | ICh UAThBRKU BZROK KL GUII AERTs OQB EShR ShMOTh BQLI | יח והתברכו בזרעך כל גויי הארץ עקב אשר שמעת בקלי | ||
| 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba. | IT UIShB EBRAM EL-NORIU UIQMU UILKU IChDU EL-BER ShBO UIShB EBRAM BBER ShBO | יט וישב אברהם אל-נעריו ויקמו וילכו יחדו אל-באר שבע וישב אברהם בבאר שבע | ||
| 20 It came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying: 'Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor: | K UIAI EChRI ADBRIM AELA UIGD LEBRAM LEMR ANA ILDA MLKA GM-AUE BNIM LNChUR EChIK | כ ויהי אחרי הדברים האלה ויגד לאברהם לאמר הנה ילדה מלכה גם-הוא בנים לנחור אחיך | ||
| 21 Uz his first-born, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram; | KE ETh-OUTs BKRU UETh-BUZ EChIU UETh-QMUEL EBI ERM | כא את-עוץ בכרו ואת-בוז אחיו ואת-קמואל אבי ארם | ||
| 22 and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.' | KB UETh-KShD UETh-ChZU UETh-FLDSh UETh-IDLF UETh BThUEL | כב ואת-כשד ואת-חזו ואת-פלדש ואת-ידלף ואת בתואל | ||
| 23 Bethuel begot Rebekah; these eight did Milcah bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother. | KG UBThUEL ILD ETh-RBQA ShMNA ELA ILDA MLKA LNChUR EChI EBRAM | כג ובתואל ילד את-רבקה שמנה אלה ילדה מלכה לנחור אחי אברהם | ||
