Reuben and Gad Settle in Gilead | ||||

| 3 'Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon, | G OTRUTh UDIBN UIOZR UNMRA UChShBUN UELOLA UShBM UNBU UBON | ג עטרות ודיבן ויעזר ונמרה וחשבון ואלעלה ושבם ונבו ובען | ||
| 4 the land which IAUA smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and your servants have cattle.' | D AERTs EShR AKA IAUA LFNI ODTh IShREL ERTs MQNA AUE ULOBDIK MQNA | ד הארץ אשר הכה יהוה לפני עדת ישראל ארץ מקנה הוא ולעבדיך מקנה | ||
| 5 They said: 'If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; bring us not over the Jordan.' | A UIEMRU EM-MTsENU ChN BOINIK IThN ETh-AERTs AZETh LOBDIK LEChZA EL-ThOBRNU ETh-AIRDN | ה ויאמרו אם-מצאנו חן בעיניך יתן את-הארץ הזאת לעבדיך לאחזה אל-תעברנו את-הירדן | ||
| 6 Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: 'Shall your brethren go to the war, and shall you sit here? | U UIEMR MShA LBNI-GD ULBNI REUBN AEChIKM IBEU LMLChMA UEThM ThShBU FA | ו ויאמר משה לבני-גד ולבני ראובן האחיכם יבאו למלחמה ואתם תשבו פה | ||
| 7 Wherefore will you turn away the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which IAUA has given them? | Z ULMA ThNUEUN (ThNIEUN) ETh-LB BNI IShREL MOBR EL-AERTs EShR-NThN LAM IAUA | ז ולמה תנואון (תניאון) את-לב בני ישראל מעבר אל-הארץ אשר-נתן להם יהוה | ||
| 8 Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land. | Ch KA OShU EBThIKM BShLChI EThM MQDSh BRNO LREUTh ETh-AERTs | ח כה עשו אבתיכם בשלחי אתם מקדש ברנע לראות את-הארץ | ||
| 9 For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they turned away the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which IAUA had given them. | T UIOLU OD-NChL EShKUL UIREU ETh-AERTs UINIEU ETh-LB BNI IShREL LBLThI-BE EL-AERTs EShR-NThN LAM IAUA | ט ויעלו עד-נחל אשכול ויראו את-הארץ ויניאו את-לב בני ישראל לבלתי-בא אל-הארץ אשר-נתן להם יהוה | ||
| 10 IAUA's anger was kindled in that day, and He swore, saying: | I UIChR-EF IAUA BIUM AAUE UIShBO LEMR | י ויחר-אף יהוה ביום ההוא וישבע לאמר | ||
| 11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed Me; | IE EM-IREU AENShIM AOLIM MMTsRIM MBN OShRIM ShNA UMOLA ETh AEDMA EShR NShBOThI LEBRAM LITsChQ ULIOQB KI LE-MLEU EChRI | יא אם-יראו האנשים העלים ממצרים מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה את האדמה אשר נשבעתי לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב כי לא-מלאו אחרי | ||
| 12 save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have wholly followed IAUA. | IB BLThI KLB BN-IFNA AQNZI UIAUShO BN-NUN KI MLEU EChRI IAUA | יב בלתי כלב בן-יפנה הקנזי ויהושע בן-נון כי מלאו אחרי יהוה | ||
| 13 IAUA's anger was kindled against Israel, and He made them wander to and fro in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of IAUA, was consumed. | IG UIChR-EF IAUA BIShREL UINOM BMDBR ERBOIM ShNA OD-ThM KL-ADUR AOShA ARO BOINI IAUA | יג ויחר-אף יהוה בישראל וינעם במדבר ארבעים שנה עד-תם כל-הדור העשה הרע בעיני יהוה | ||
| 14 And, behold, you are risen up in your fathers' stead, a brood of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of IAUA toward Israel. | ID UANA QMThM ThChTh EBThIKM ThRBUTh ENShIM ChTEIM LSFUTh OUD OL ChRUN EF-IAUA EL-IShREL | יד והנה קמתם תחת אבתיכם תרבות אנשים חטאים לספות עוד על חרון אף-יהוה אל-ישראל | ||
| 15 For if you turn away from after Him, He will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and so you will destroy all this people.' | TU KI ThShUBN MEChRIU UISF OUD LANIChU BMDBR UShChThM LKL-AOM AZA | טו כי תשובן מאחריו ויסף עוד להניחו במדבר ושחתם לכל-העם הזה | ||
| 16 They came near to him, and said: 'We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones; | TZ UIGShU ELIU UIEMRU GDRTh TsEN NBNA LMQNNU FA UORIM LTFNU | טז ויגשו אליו ויאמרו גדרת צאן נבנה למקננו פה וערים לטפנו | ||
| 17 but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. | IZ UENChNU NChLTs ChShIM LFNI BNI IShREL OD EShR EM-ABIENM EL-MQUMM UIShB TFNU BORI AMBTsR MFNI IShBI AERTs | יז ואנחנו נחלץ חשים לפני בני ישראל עד אשר אם-הביאנם אל-מקומם וישב טפנו בערי המבצר מפני ישבי הארץ | ||
| 18 We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance. | ICh LE NShUB EL-BThINU OD AThNChL BNI IShREL EISh NChLThU | יח לא נשוב אל-בתינו עד התנחל בני ישראל איש נחלתו | ||
| 19 For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward, because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.' | IT KI LE NNChL EThM MOBR LIRDN UALEA KI BEA NChLThNU ELINU MOBR AIRDN MZRChA | יט כי לא ננחל אתם מעבר לירדן והלאה כי באה נחלתנו אלינו מעבר הירדן מזרחה | ||
| 20 Moses said to them: 'If you will do this thing: if you will arm yourselves to go before IAUA to the war, | K UIEMR ELIAM MShA EM-ThOShUN ETh-ADBR AZA EM-ThChLTsU LFNI IAUA LMLChMA | כ ויאמר אליהם משה אם-תעשון את-הדבר הזה אם-תחלצו לפני יהוה למלחמה | ||
| 21 and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before IAUA, until He has driven out His enemies from before Him, | KE UOBR LKM KL-ChLUTs ETh-AIRDN LFNI IAUA OD AURIShU ETh-EIBIU MFNIU | כא ועבר לכם כל-חלוץ את-הירדן לפני יהוה עד הורישו את-איביו מפניו | ||
| 22 and the land be subdued before IAUA, and you return afterward; then you shall be clear before IAUA, and before Israel, and this land shall be to you for a possession before IAUA. | KB UNKBShA AERTs LFNI IAUA UEChR ThShBU UAIIThM NQIM MIAUA UMIShREL UAIThA AERTs AZETh LKM LEChZA LFNI IAUA | כב ונכבשה הארץ לפני יהוה ואחר תשבו והייתם נקים מיהוה ומישראל והיתה הארץ הזאת לכם לאחזה לפני יהוה | ||
| 23 But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against IAUA; and know you your sin which will find you. | KG UEM-LE ThOShUN KN ANA ChTEThM LIAUA UDOU ChTEThKM EShR ThMTsE EThKM | כג ואם-לא תעשון כן הנה חטאתם ליהוה ודעו חטאתכם אשר תמצא אתכם | ||
| 24 Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth.' | KD BNU-LKM ORIM LTFKM UGDRTh LTsNEKM UAITsE MFIKM ThOShU | כד בנו-לכם ערים לטפכם וגדרת לצנאכם והיצא מפיכם תעשו | ||
| 25 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying: 'Your servants will do as my lord commands. | KA UIEMR BNI-GD UBNI REUBN EL-MShA LEMR OBDIK IOShU KEShR EDNI MTsUA | כה ויאמר בני-גד ובני ראובן אל-משה לאמר עבדיך יעשו כאשר אדני מצוה | ||
| 26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead; | KU TFNU NShINU MQNNU UKL-BAMThNU IAIU-ShM BORI AGLOD | כו טפנו נשינו מקננו וכל-בהמתנו יהיו-שם בערי הגלעד | ||
| 27 but your servants will pass over, every man that is armed for war, before IAUA to battle, as my lord says.' | KZ UOBDIK IOBRU KL-ChLUTs TsBE LFNI IAUA LMLChMA KEShR EDNI DBR | כז ועבדיך יעברו כל-חלוץ צבא לפני יהוה למלחמה כאשר אדני דבר | ||
| 28 So Moses gave charge concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel. | KCh UITsU LAM MShA ETh ELOZR AKAN UETh IAUShO BN-NUN UETh-REShI EBUTh AMTUTh LBNI IShREL | כח ויצו להם משה את אלעזר הכהן ואת יהושע בן-נון ואת-ראשי אבות המטות לבני ישראל | ||
| 29 Moses said to them: 'If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man that is armed to battle, before IAUA, and the land shall be subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession; | KT UIEMR MShA ELAM EM-IOBRU BNI-GD UBNI-REUBN EThKM ETh-AIRDN KL-ChLUTs LMLChMA LFNI IAUA UNKBShA AERTs LFNIKM UNThThM LAM ETh-ERTs AGLOD LEChZA | כט ויאמר משה אלהם אם-יעברו בני-גד ובני-ראובן אתכם את-הירדן כל-חלוץ למלחמה לפני יהוה ונכבשה הארץ לפניכם ונתתם להם את-ארץ הגלעד לאחזה | ||
| 30 but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.' | L UEM-LE IOBRU ChLUTsIM EThKM UNEChZU BThKKM BERTs KNON | ל ואם-לא יעברו חלוצים אתכם ונאחזו בתככם בארץ כנען | ||
| 31 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying: 'As IAUA has said to your servants, so will we do. | LE UIONU BNI-GD UBNI REUBN LEMR ETh EShR DBR IAUA EL-OBDIK KN NOShA | לא ויענו בני-גד ובני ראובן לאמר את אשר דבר יהוה אל-עבדיך כן נעשה | ||
| 32 We will pass over armed before IAUA into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.' | LB NChNU NOBR ChLUTsIM LFNI IAUA ERTs KNON UEThNU EChZTh NChLThNU MOBR LIRDN | לב נחנו נעבר חלוצים לפני יהוה ארץ כנען ואתנו אחזת נחלתנו מעבר לירדן | ||

| 35 and Atroth-shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah; | LA UETh-OTRTh ShUFN UETh-IOZR UIGBAA | לה ואת-עטרת שופן ואת-יעזר ויגבהה | ||
| 36 and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran; fortified cities, and folds for sheep. | LU UETh-BITh NMRA UETh-BITh ARN ORI MBTsR UGDRTh TsEN | לו ואת-בית נמרה ואת-בית הרן ערי מבצר וגדרת צאן | ||
| 37 The children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim; | LZ UBNI REUBN BNU ETh-ChShBUN UETh-ELOLE UETh QRIThIM | לז ובני ראובן בנו את-חשבון ואת-אלעלא ואת קריתים | ||
| 38 and Nebo, and Baal-meon--their names being changed--and Sibmah; and gave their names to the cities which they built. | LCh UETh-NBU UETh-BOL MOUN MUSBTh ShM UETh-ShBMA UIQREU BShMTh ETh-ShMUTh AORIM EShR BNU | לח ואת-נבו ואת-בעל מעון מוסבת שם ואת-שבמה ויקראו בשמת את-שמות הערים אשר בנו | ||

| 40 Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein. | M UIThN MShA ETh-AGLOD LMKIR BN-MNShA UIShB BA | מ ויתן משה את-הגלעד למכיר בן-מנשה וישב בה | ||
| 41 Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the villages thereof, and called them Havvoth-jair. | ME UIEIR BN-MNShA ALK UILKD ETh-ChUThIAM UIQRE EThAN ChUTh IEIR | מא ויאיר בן-מנשה הלך וילכד את-חותיהם ויקרא אתהן חות יאיר | ||
