| 3 Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many; and Moab was overcome with dread because of the children of Israel. | G UIGR MUEB MFNI AOM MED KI RB-AUE UIQTs MUEB MFNI BNI IShREL | ג ויגר מואב מפני העם מאד כי רב-הוא ויקץ מואב מפני בני ישראל | ||

| 7 The elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came to Balaam, and spoke to him the words of Balak. | Z UILKU ZQNI MUEB UZQNI MDIN UQSMIM BIDM UIBEU EL-BLOM UIDBRU ELIU DBRI BLQ | ז וילכו זקני מואב וזקני מדין וקסמים בידם ויבאו אל-בלעם וידברו אליו דברי בלק | ||
| 8 He said to them: 'Lodge here this night, and I will bring you back word, as IAUA may speak to me'; and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. | Ch UIEMR ELIAM LINU FA ALILA UAShBThI EThKM DBR KEShR IDBR IAUA ELI UIShBU ShRI-MUEB OM-BLOM | ח ויאמר אליהם לינו פה הלילה והשבתי אתכם דבר כאשר ידבר יהוה אלי וישבו שרי-מואב עם-בלעם | ||
| 9 God came to Balaam, and said: 'What men are these with you?' | T UIBE ELAIM EL-BLOM UIEMR MI AENShIM AELA OMK | ט ויבא אלהים אל-בלעם ויאמר מי האנשים האלה עמך | ||
| 10 Balaam said to God: 'Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me [saying]: | I UIEMR BLOM EL-AELAIM BLQ BN-TsFR MLK MUEB ShLCh ELI | י ויאמר בלעם אל-האלהים בלק בן-צפר מלך מואב שלח אלי | ||
| 11 Behold the people that is come out of Egypt, it covers the face of the earth; now, come curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.' | IE ANA AOM AITsE MMTsRIM UIKS ETh-OIN AERTs OThA LKA QBA-LI EThU EULI EUKL LALChM BU UGRShThIU | יא הנה העם היצא ממצרים ויכס את-עין הארץ עתה לכה קבה-לי אתו אולי אוכל להלחם בו וגרשתיו | ||
| 12 God said to Balaam: 'You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people; for they are blessed.' | IB UIEMR ELAIM EL-BLOM LE ThLK OMAM LE ThER ETh-AOM KI BRUK AUE | יב ויאמר אלהים אל-בלעם לא תלך עמהם לא תאר את-העם כי ברוך הוא | ||
| 13 Balaam rose up in the morning, and said to the princes of Balak: 'Get you into your land; for IAUA refuses to give me leave to go with you.' | IG UIQM BLOM BBQR UIEMR EL-ShRI BLQ LKU EL-ERTsKM KI MEN IAUA LThThI LALK OMKM | יג ויקם בלעם בבקר ויאמר אל-שרי בלק לכו אל-ארצכם כי מאן יהוה לתתי להלך עמכם | ||
| 14 The princes of Moab rose up, and they went to Balak, and said: 'Balaam refuses to come with us.' | ID UIQUMU ShRI MUEB UIBEU EL-BLQ UIEMRU MEN BLOM ALK OMNU | יד ויקומו שרי מואב ויבאו אל-בלק ויאמרו מאן בלעם הלך עמנו | ||
| 15 Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they. | TU UISF OUD BLQ ShLCh ShRIM RBIM UNKBDIM MELA | טו ויסף עוד בלק שלח שרים רבים ונכבדים מאלה | ||
| 16 They came to Balaam, and said to him: 'Thus says Balak the son of Zippor: Let nothing, I pray you, hinder you from coming to me; | TZ UIBEU EL-BLOM UIEMRU LU KA EMR BLQ BN-TsFUR EL-NE ThMNO MALK ELI | טז ויבאו אל-בלעם ויאמרו לו כה אמר בלק בן-צפור אל-נא תמנע מהלך אלי | ||
| 17 for I will promote you to very great honor, and whatsoever you say to me I will do; come therefore, I pray you, curse me this people.' | IZ KI-KBD EKBDK MED UKL EShR-ThEMR ELI EOShA ULKA-NE QBA-LI ETh AOM AZA | יז כי-כבד אכבדך מאד וכל אשר-תאמר אלי אעשה ולכה-נא קבה-לי את העם הזה | ||
| 18 Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak: 'If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of IAUA my God, to do any thing, small or great. | ICh UION BLOM UIEMR EL-OBDI BLQ EM-IThN-LI BLQ MLE BIThU KSF UZAB LE EUKL LOBR ETh-FI IAUA ELAI LOShUTh QTNA EU GDULA | יח ויען בלעם ויאמר אל-עבדי בלק אם-יתן-לי בלק מלא ביתו כסף וזהב לא אוכל לעבר את-פי יהוה אלהי לעשות קטנה או גדולה | ||
| 19 Now therefore, I pray you, tarry you also here this night, that I may know what IAUA will speak to me more.' | IT UOThA ShBU NE BZA GM-EThM ALILA UEDOA MA-ISF IAUA DBR OMI | יט ועתה שבו נא בזה גם-אתם הלילה ואדעה מה-יסף יהוה דבר עמי | ||
| 20 God came to Balaam at night, and said to him: 'If the men are come to call you, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak to you, that shall you do.' | K UIBE ELAIM EL-BLOM LILA UIEMR LU EM-LQRE LK BEU AENShIM QUM LK EThM UEK ETh-ADBR EShR-EDBR ELIK EThU ThOShA | כ ויבא אלהים אל-בלעם לילה ויאמר לו אם-לקרא לך באו האנשים קום לך אתם ואך את-הדבר אשר-אדבר אליך אתו תעשה | ||
| 21 Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. | KE UIQM BLOM BBQR UIChBSh ETh-EThNU UILK OM-ShRI MUEB | כא ויקם בלעם בבקר ויחבש את-אתנו וילך עם-שרי מואב | ||
| 22 God's anger was kindled because he went; and the angel of IAUA placed himself in the way for an adversary against him.--Now he was riding on his ass, and his two servants were with him.-- | KB UIChR-EF ELAIM KI-AULK AUE UIThITsB MLEK IAUA BDRK LShTN LU UAUE RKB OL-EThNU UShNI NORIU OMU | כב ויחר-אף אלהים כי-הולך הוא ויתיצב מלאך יהוה בדרך לשטן לו והוא רכב על-אתנו ושני נעריו עמו | ||

| 24 Then the angel of IAUA stood in a hollow way between the vineyards, a fence being on this side, and a fence on that side. | KD UIOMD MLEK IAUA BMShOUL AKRMIM GDR MZA UGDR MZA | כד ויעמד מלאך יהוה במשעול הכרמים גדר מזה וגדר מזה | ||
| 25 The ass saw the angel of IAUA, and she thrust herself to the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall; and he smote her again. | KA UThRE AEThUN ETh-MLEK IAUA UThLChTs EL-AQIR UThLChTs ETh-RGL BLOM EL-AQIR UISF LAKThA | כה ותרא האתון את-מלאך יהוה ותלחץ אל-הקיר ותלחץ את-רגל בלעם אל-הקיר ויסף להכתה | ||
| 26 The angel of IAUA went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. | KU UIUSF MLEK-IAUA OBUR UIOMD BMQUM TsR EShR EIN-DRK LNTUTh IMIN UShMEUL | כו ויוסף מלאך-יהוה עבור ויעמד במקום צר אשר אין-דרך לנטות ימין ושמאול | ||
| 27 The ass saw the angel of IAUA, and she lay down under Balaam; and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with his staff. | KZ UThRE AEThUN ETh-MLEK IAUA UThRBTs ThChTh BLOM UIChR-EF BLOM UIK ETh-AEThUN BMQL | כז ותרא האתון את-מלאך יהוה ותרבץ תחת בלעם ויחר-אף בלעם ויך את-האתון במקל | ||
| 28 IAUA opened the mouth of the ass, and she said to Balaam: 'What have I done to you, that you have smitten me these three times?' | KCh UIFThCh IAUA ETh-FI AEThUN UThEMR LBLOM MA-OShIThI LK KI AKIThNI ZA ShLSh RGLIM | כח ויפתח יהוה את-פי האתון ותאמר לבלעם מה-עשיתי לך כי הכיתני זה שלש רגלים | ||
| 29 Balaam said to the ass: 'Because you have mocked me; I would there were a sword in my hand, for now I had killed you.' | KT UIEMR BLOM LEThUN KI AThOLLTh BI LU ISh-ChRB BIDI KI OThA ARGThIK | כט ויאמר בלעם לאתון כי התעללת בי לו יש-חרב בידי כי עתה הרגתיך | ||
| 30 The ass said to Balaam: 'Am not I your ass, on which you have ridden all your life long to this day? was I ever wont to do so to you?' | 32 The angel of IAUA said to him: 'Wherefore have you smitten your ass these three times? behold, I am come forth for an adversary, because your way is contrary to me; | LB UIEMR ELIU MLEK IAUA OL-MA AKITh ETh-EThNK ZA ShLUSh RGLIM ANA ENKI ITsEThI LShTN KI-IRT ADRK LNGDI | לב ויאמר אליו מלאך יהוה על-מה הכית את-אתנך זה שלוש רגלים הנה אנכי יצאתי לשטן כי-ירט הדרך לנגדי | ||

| 35 The angel of IAUA said to Balaam: 'Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak to you, that you shall speak.'
