Korah's Rebellion | ||||
| 1 Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; | E UIQCh QRCh BN-ITsAR BN-QATh BN-LUI UDThN UEBIRM BNI ELIEB UEUN BN-FLTh BNI REUBN | א ויקח קרח בן-יצהר בן-קהת בן-לוי ודתן ואבירם בני אליאב ואון בן-פלת בני ראובן | ||
| 2 and they rose up in face of Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty men; they were princes of the congregation, the elect men of the assembly, men of renown; | B UIQMU LFNI MShA UENShIM MBNI-IShREL ChMShIM UMEThIM NShIEI ODA QREI MUOD ENShI-ShM | ב ויקמו לפני משה ואנשים מבני-ישראל חמשים ומאתים נשיאי עדה קראי מועד אנשי-שם | ||
| 3 and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them: 'You take too much on you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and IAUA is among them; wherefore then lift you up yourselves above the assembly of IAUA?' | G UIQALU OL-MShA UOL-EARN UIEMRU ELAM RB-LKM KI KL-AODA KLM QDShIM UBThUKM IAUA UMDUO ThThNShEU OL-QAL IAUA | ג ויקהלו על-משה ועל-אהרן ויאמרו אלהם רב-לכם כי כל-העדה כלם קדשים ובתוכם יהוה ומדוע תתנשאו על-קהל יהוה | ||
| 4 When Moses heard it, he fell on his face. | D UIShMO MShA UIFL OL-FNIU | ד וישמע משה ויפל על-פניו | ||
| 5 He spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying: 'In the morning IAUA will show who are His, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him; even him whom He may choose will He cause to come near to Him. | A UIDBR EL-QRCh UEL-KL-ODThU LEMR BQR UIDO IAUA ETh-EShR-LU UETh-AQDUSh UAQRIB ELIU UETh EShR IBChR-BU IQRIB ELIU | ה וידבר אל-קרח ואל-כל-עדתו לאמר בקר וידע יהוה את-אשר-לו ואת-הקדוש והקריב אליו ואת אשר יבחר-בו יקריב אליו | ||
| 6 This do: take you censors, Korah, and all his company; | U ZETh OShU QChU-LKM MChThUTh QRCh UKL-ODThU | ו זאת עשו קחו-לכם מחתות קרח וכל-עדתו | ||
| 7 and put fire therein, and put incense on them before IAUA to-morrow; and it shall be that the man whom IAUA does choose, he shall be holy; you take too much on you, you sons of Levi.' | Z UThNU BAN ESh UShIMU OLIAN QTRTh LFNI IAUA MChR UAIA AEISh EShR-IBChR IAUA AUE AQDUSh RB-LKM BNI LUI | ז ותנו בהן אש ושימו עליהן קטרת לפני יהוה מחר והיה האיש אשר-יבחר יהוה הוא הקדוש רב-לכם בני לוי | ||
| 8 Moses said to Korah: 'Hear now, you sons of Levi: | Ch UIEMR MShA EL-QRCh ShMOU-NE BNI LUI | ח ויאמר משה אל-קרח שמעו-נא בני לוי | ||
| 9 is it but a small thing to you, that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of IAUA, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them; | T AMOT MKM KI-ABDIL ELAI IShREL EThKM MODTh IShREL LAQRIB EThKM ELIU LOBD ETh-OBDTh MShKN IAUA ULOMD LFNI AODA LShRThM | ט המעט מכם כי-הבדיל אלהי ישראל אתכם מעדת ישראל להקריב אתכם אליו לעבד את-עבדת משכן יהוה ולעמד לפני העדה לשרתם | ||
| 10 and that He has brought you near, and all your brethren the sons of Levi with you? and will you seek the priesthood also? | I UIQRB EThK UETh-KL-EChIK BNI-LUI EThK UBQShThM GM-KANA | י ויקרב אתך ואת-כל-אחיך בני-לוי אתך ובקשתם גם-כהנה | ||
| 11 Therefore you and all your company that are gathered together against IAUA--; and as to Aaron, what is he that you murmur against him?' | IE LKN EThA UKL-ODThK ANODIM OL-IAUA UEARN MA-AUE KI ThLUNU (ThLINU) OLIU | יא לכן אתה וכל-עדתך הנעדים על-יהוה ואהרן מה-הוא כי תלונו (תלינו) עליו | ||
| 12 Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said: 'We will not come up; | IB UIShLCh MShA LQRE LDThN ULEBIRM BNI ELIEB UIEMRU LE NOLA | יב וישלח משה לקרא לדתן ולאבירם בני אליאב ויאמרו לא נעלה | ||
| 13 is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must needs make yourself also a prince over us? | IG AMOT KI AOLIThNU MERTs ZBTh ChLB UDBSh LAMIThNU BMDBR KI-ThShThRR OLINU GM-AShThRR | יג המעט כי העליתנו מארץ זבת חלב ודבש להמיתנו במדבר כי-תשתרר עלינו גם-השתרר | ||
| 14 Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards; will you put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.' | ID EF LE EL-ERTs ZBTh ChLB UDBSh ABIEThNU UThThN-LNU NChLTh ShDA UKRM AOINI AENShIM AAM ThNQR LE NOLA | יד אף לא אל-ארץ זבת חלב ודבש הביאתנו ותתן-לנו נחלת שדה וכרם העיני האנשים ההם תנקר לא נעלה | ||
| 15 Moses was very wroth, and said to IAUA: 'Respect not You their offering; I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.' | TU UIChR LMShA MED UIEMR EL-IAUA EL-ThFN EL-MNChThM LE ChMUR EChD MAM NShEThI ULE AROThI ETh-EChD MAM | טו ויחר למשה מאד ויאמר אל-יהוה אל-תפן אל-מנחתם לא חמור אחד מהם נשאתי ולא הרעתי את-אחד מהם | ||
| 16 Moses said to Korah: 'Be you and all your congregation before IAUA, you, and they, and Aaron, to-morrow; | TZ UIEMR MShA EL-QRCh EThA UKL-ODThK AIU LFNI IAUA EThA UAM UEARN MChR | טז ויאמר משה אל-קרח אתה וכל-עדתך היו לפני יהוה אתה והם ואהרן מחר | ||
| 17 and take you every man his fire-pan, and put incense on them, and bring you before IAUA every man his fire-pan, two hundred and fifty fire-pans; you also, and Aaron, each his fire-pan.' | IZ UQChU EISh MChThThU UNThThM OLIAM QTRTh UAQRBThM LFNI IAUA EISh MChThThU ChMShIM UMEThIM MChThTh UEThA UEARN EISh MChThThU | יז וקחו איש מחתתו ונתתם עליהם קטרת והקרבתם לפני יהוה איש מחתתו חמשים ומאתים מחתת ואתה ואהרן איש מחתתו | ||
| 18 They took every man his fire-pan, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood at the door of the tent of Holy Days with Moses and Aaron. | ICh UIQChU EISh MChThThU UIThNU OLIAM ESh UIShIMU OLIAM QTRTh UIOMDU FThCh EAL MUOD UMShA UEARN | יח ויקחו איש מחתתו ויתנו עליהם אש וישימו עליהם קטרת ויעמדו פתח אהל מועד ומשה ואהרן | ||
| 19 Korah assembled all the congregation against them to the door of the tent of Holy Days; and the glory of IAUA appeared to all the congregation. | IT UIQAL OLIAM QRCh ETh-KL-AODA EL-FThCh EAL MUOD UIRE KBUD-IAUA EL-KL-AODA | יט ויקהל עליהם קרח את-כל-העדה אל-פתח אהל מועד וירא כבוד-יהוה אל-כל-העדה | ||
| 20 IAUA spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying: | K UIDBR IAUA EL-MShA UEL-EARN LEMR | כ וידבר יהוה אל-משה ואל-אהרן לאמר | ||
| 21 'Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.' | KE ABDLU MThUK AODA AZETh UEKLA EThM KRGO | כא הבדלו מתוך העדה הזאת ואכלה אתם כרגע | ||
| 22 They fell on their faces, and said: 'O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will You be wroth with all the congregation?' | KB UIFLU OL-FNIAM UIEMRU EL ELAI ARUChTh LKL-BShR AEISh EChD IChTE UOL KL-AODA ThQTsF | כב ויפלו על-פניהם ויאמרו אל אלהי הרוחת לכל-בשר האיש אחד יחטא ועל כל-העדה תקצף | ||
| 23 IAUA spoke to Moses, saying: | KG UIDBR IAUA EL-MShA LEMR | כג וידבר יהוה אל-משה לאמר | ||
| 24 'Speak to the congregation, saying: Get you up from about the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.' | KD DBR EL-AODA LEMR AOLU MSBIB LMShKN-QRCh DThN UEBIRM | כד דבר אל-העדה לאמר העלו מסביב למשכן-קרח דתן ואבירם | ||
| 25 Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him. | KA UIQM MShA UILK EL-DThN UEBIRM UILKU EChRIU ZQNI IShREL | כה ויקם משה וילך אל-דתן ואבירם וילכו אחריו זקני ישראל | ||
| 26 He spoke to the congregation, saying: 'Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, unless you be swept away in all their sins.' | KU UIDBR EL-AODA LEMR SURU NE MOL EALI AENShIM ARShOIM AELA UEL-ThGOU BKL-EShR LAM FN-ThSFU BKL-ChTEThM | כו וידבר אל-העדה לאמר סורו נא מעל אהלי האנשים הרשעים האלה ואל-תגעו בכל-אשר להם פן-תספו בכל-חטאתם | ||
| 27 So they got them up from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side; and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, and their sons, and their little ones. | KZ UIOLU MOL MShKN-QRCh DThN UEBIRM MSBIB UDThN UEBIRM ITsEU NTsBIM FThCh EALIAM UNShIAM UBNIAM UTFM | כז ויעלו מעל משכן-קרח דתן ואבירם מסביב ודתן ואבירם יצאו נצבים פתח אהליהם ונשיהם ובניהם וטפם | ||
| 28 Moses said: 'Hereby you shall know that IAUA has sent me to do all these works, and that I have not done them of mine own mind. | KCh UIEMR MShA BZETh ThDOUN KI-IAUA ShLChNI LOShUTh ETh KL-AMOShIM AELA KI-LE MLBI | כח ויאמר משה בזאת תדעון כי-יהוה שלחני לעשות את כל-המעשים האלה כי-לא מלבי | ||
| 29 If these men die the common death of all men, and be visited after the visitation of all men, then IAUA has not sent Me. | KT EM-KMUTh KL-AEDM IMThUN ELA UFQDTh KL-AEDM IFQD OLIAM LE IAUA ShLChNI | כט אם-כמות כל-האדם ימתון אלה ופקדת כל-האדם יפקד עליהם לא יהוה שלחני | ||
| 30 But if IAUA make a new thing, and the ground open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you shall understand that these men have despised IAUA.' | L UEM-BRIEA IBRE IAUA UFTsThA AEDMA ETh-FIA UBLOA EThM UETh-KL-EShR LAM UIRDU ChIIM ShELA UIDOThM KI NETsU AENShIM AELA ETh-IAUA | ל ואם-בריאה יברא יהוה ופצתה האדמה את-פיה ובלעה אתם ואת-כל-אשר להם וירדו חיים שאלה וידעתם כי נאצו האנשים האלה את-יהוה | ||
| 31 It came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground did cleave asunder that was under them. | LE UIAI KKLThU LDBR ETh KL-ADBRIM AELA UThBQO AEDMA EShR ThChThIAM | לא ויהי ככלתו לדבר את כל-הדברים האלה ותבקע האדמה אשר תחתיהם | ||
| 32 The earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. | LB UThFThCh AERTs ETh-FIA UThBLO EThM UETh-BThIAM UETh KL-AEDM EShR LQRCh UETh KL-ARKUSh | לב ותפתח הארץ את-פיה ותבלע אתם ואת-בתיהם ואת כל-האדם אשר לקרח ואת כל-הרכוש | ||
| 33 So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit; and the earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly. | LG UIRDU AM UKL-EShR LAM ChIIM ShELA UThKS OLIAM AERTs UIEBDU MThUK AQAL | לג וירדו הם וכל-אשר להם חיים שאלה ותכס עליהם הארץ ויאבדו מתוך הקהל | ||
| 34 All Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them; for they said: 'Unless the earth swallow us up.' | LD UKL-IShREL EShR SBIBThIAM NSU LQLM KI EMRU FN-ThBLONU AERTs | לד וכל-ישראל אשר סביבתיהם נסו לקלם כי אמרו פן-תבלענו הארץ | ||
| 35 Fire came forth from IAUA, and devoured the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense. | LA UESh ITsEA METh IAUA UThEKL ETh AChMShIM UMEThIM EISh MQRIBI AQTRTh | לה ואש יצאה מאת יהוה ותאכל את החמשים ומאתים איש מקריבי הקטרת | ||
