Death of Miriam | ||||
| 1 The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there. | E UIBEU BNI-IShREL KL-AODA MDBR-TsN BChDSh AREShUN UIShB AOM BQDSh UThMTh ShM MRIM UThQBR ShM | א ויבאו בני-ישראל כל-העדה מדבר-צן בחדש הראשון וישב העם בקדש ותמת שם מרים ותקבר שם | ||
| 2 There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. | B ULE-AIA MIM LODA UIQALU OL-MShA UOL-EARN | ב ולא-היה מים לעדה ויקהלו על-משה ועל-אהרן | ||
| 3 The people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying: 'Would that we had perished when our brethren perished before IAUA! | G UIRB AOM OM-MShA UIEMRU LEMR ULU GUONU BGUO EChINU LFNI IAUA | ג וירב העם עם-משה ויאמרו לאמר ולו גוענו בגוע אחינו לפני יהוה | ||
| 4 Why have you brought the assembly of IAUA into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle? | D ULMA ABEThM ETh-QAL IAUA EL-AMDBR AZA LMUTh ShM ENChNU UBOIRNU | ד ולמה הבאתם את-קהל יהוה אל-המדבר הזה למות שם אנחנו ובעירנו | ||
| 5 Wherefore have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.' | A ULMA AOLIThNU MMTsRIM LABIE EThNU EL-AMQUM ARO AZA LE MQUM ZRO UThENA UGFN URMUN UMIM EIN LShThUTh | ה ולמה העליתנו ממצרים להביא אתנו אל-המקום הרע הזה לא מקום זרע ותאנה וגפן ורמון ומים אין לשתות | ||
| 6 Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tent of Holy Days, and fell on their faces; and the glory of IAUA appeared to them. | U UIBE MShA UEARN MFNI AQAL EL-FThCh EAL MUOD UIFLU OL-FNIAM UIRE KBUD-IAUA ELIAM | ו ויבא משה ואהרן מפני הקהל אל-פתח אהל מועד ויפלו על-פניהם וירא כבוד-יהוה אליהם | ||
| 7 IAUA spoke to Moses, saying: | Z UIDBR IAUA EL-MShA LEMR | ז וידבר יהוה אל-משה לאמר | ||
| 8 'Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak you to the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and you shall bring forth to them water out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their cattle drink.' | Ch QCh ETh-AMTA UAQAL ETh-AODA EThA UEARN EChIK UDBRThM EL-ASLO LOINIAM UNThN MIMIU UAUTsETh LAM MIM MN-ASLO UAShQITh ETh-AODA UETh-BOIRM | ח קח את-המטה והקהל את-העדה אתה ואהרן אחיך ודברתם אל-הסלע לעיניהם ונתן מימיו והוצאת להם מים מן-הסלע והשקית את-העדה ואת-בעירם | ||
| 9 Moses took the rod from before IAUA, as He commanded him. | T UIQCh MShA ETh-AMTA MLFNI IAUA KEShR TsUAU | ט ויקח משה את-המטה מלפני יהוה כאשר צוהו | ||
| 10 Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them: 'Hear now, you rebels; are we to bring you forth water out of this rock?' | I UIQALU MShA UEARN ETh-AQAL EL-FNI ASLO UIEMR LAM ShMOU-NE AMRIM AMN-ASLO AZA NUTsIE LKM MIM | י ויקהלו משה ואהרן את-הקהל אל-פני הסלע ויאמר להם שמעו-נא המרים המן-הסלע הזה נוציא לכם מים | ||
| 11 Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle. | IE UIRM MShA ETh-IDU UIK ETh-ASLO BMTAU FOMIM UITsEU MIM RBIM UThShTh AODA UBOIRM | יא וירם משה את-ידו ויך את-הסלע במטהו פעמים ויצאו מים רבים ותשת העדה ובעירם | ||
| 12 IAUA said to Moses and Aaron: 'Because you believed not in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.' | IB UIEMR IAUA EL-MShA UEL-EARN ION LE-AEMNThM BI LAQDIShNI LOINI BNI IShREL LKN LE ThBIEU ETh-AQAL AZA EL-AERTs EShR-NThThI LAM | יב ויאמר יהוה אל-משה ואל-אהרן יען לא-האמנתם בי להקדישני לעיני בני ישראל לכן לא תביאו את-הקהל הזה אל-הארץ אשר-נתתי להם | ||
| 13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the children of Israel strove with IAUA, and He was sanctified in them. | IG AMA MI MRIBA EShR-RBU BNI-IShREL ETh-IAUA UIQDSh BM | יג המה מי מריבה אשר-רבו בני-ישראל את-יהוה ויקדש בם | ||
| 14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom: 'Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the travail that has befallen us; | ID UIShLCh MShA MLEKIM MQDSh EL-MLK EDUM KA EMR EChIK IShREL EThA IDOTh ETh KL-AThLEA EShR MTsEThNU | יד וישלח משה מלאכים מקדש אל-מלך אדום כה אמר אחיך ישראל אתה ידעת את כל-התלאה אשר מצאתנו | ||
| 15 how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers; | TU UIRDU EBThINU MTsRIMA UNShB BMTsRIM IMIM RBIM UIROU LNU MTsRIM ULEBThINU | טו וירדו אבתינו מצרימה ונשב במצרים ימים רבים וירעו לנו מצרים ולאבתינו | ||
| 16 and when we cried to IAUA, He heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of your border. | TZ UNTsOQ EL-IAUA UIShMO QLNU UIShLCh MLEK UITsENU MMTsRIM UANA ENChNU BQDSh OIR QTsA GBULK | טז ונצעק אל-יהוה וישמע קלנו וישלח מלאך ויצאנו ממצרים והנה אנחנו בקדש עיר קצה גבולך | ||
| 17 Let us pass, I pray you, through your land; we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king's highway, we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.' | IZ NOBRA-NE BERTsK LE NOBR BShDA UBKRM ULE NShThA MI BER DRK AMLK NLK LE NTA IMIN UShMEUL OD EShR-NOBR GBLK | יז נעברה-נא בארצך לא נעבר בשדה ובכרם ולא נשתה מי באר דרך המלך נלך לא נטה ימין ושמאול עד אשר-נעבר גבלך | ||
| 18 Edom said to him: 'You shall not pass through me, unless I come out with the sword against you.' | ICh UIEMR ELIU EDUM LE ThOBR BI FN-BChRB ETsE LQREThK | יח ויאמר אליו אדום לא תעבר בי פן-בחרב אצא לקראתך | ||
| 19 The children of Israel said to him: 'We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of your water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof; let me only pass through on my feet; there is no hurt.' | IT UIEMRU ELIU BNI-IShREL BMSLA NOLA UEM-MIMIK NShThA ENI UMQNI UNThThI MKRM RQ EIN-DBR BRGLI EOBRA | יט ויאמרו אליו בני-ישראל במסלה נעלה ואם-מימיך נשתה אני ומקני ונתתי מכרם רק אין-דבר ברגלי אעברה | ||
| 20 He said: 'You shall not pass through.' Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand. | K UIEMR LE ThOBR UITsE EDUM LQREThU BOM KBD UBID ChZQA | כ ויאמר לא תעבר ויצא אדום לקראתו בעם כבד וביד חזקה | ||
| 21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; wherefore Israel turned away from him. | KE UIMEN EDUM NThN ETh-IShREL OBR BGBLU UIT IShREL MOLIU | כא וימאן אדום נתן את-ישראל עבר בגבלו ויט ישראל מעליו | ||
| 22 They journeyed from Kadesh; and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to mount Hor. | KB UISOU MQDSh UIBEU BNI-IShREL KL-AODA AR AAR | כב ויסעו מקדש ויבאו בני-ישראל כל-העדה הר ההר | ||
| 23 IAUA spoke to Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying: | KG UIEMR IAUA EL-MShA UEL-EARN BAR AAR OL-GBUL ERTs-EDUM LEMR | כג ויאמר יהוה אל-משה ואל-אהרן בהר ההר על-גבול ארץ-אדום לאמר | ||
| 24 'Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against My word at the waters of Meribah. | KD IESF EARN EL-OMIU KI LE IBE EL-AERTs EShR NThThI LBNI IShREL OL EShR-MRIThM ETh-FI LMI MRIBA | כד יאסף אהרן אל-עמיו כי לא יבא אל-הארץ אשר נתתי לבני ישראל על אשר-מריתם את-פי למי מריבה | ||
| 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to mount Hor. | KA QCh ETh-EARN UETh-ELOZR BNU UAOL EThM AR AAR | כה קח את-אהרן ואת-אלעזר בנו והעל אתם הר ההר | ||
| 26 Strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; and Aaron shall be gathered to his people, and shall die there.' | KU UAFShT ETh-EARN ETh-BGDIU UALBShThM ETh-ELOZR BNU UEARN IESF UMTh ShM | כו והפשט את-אהרן את-בגדיו והלבשתם את-אלעזר בנו ואהרן יאסף ומת שם | ||
| 27 Moses did as IAUA commanded; and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. | KZ UIOSh MShA KEShR TsUA IAUA UIOLU EL-AR AAR LOINI KL-AODA | כז ויעש משה כאשר צוה יהוה ויעלו אל-הר ההר לעיני כל-העדה | ||
| 28 Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount; and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount. | KCh UIFShT MShA ETh-EARN ETh-BGDIU UILBSh EThM ETh-ELOZR BNU UIMTh EARN ShM BRESh AAR UIRD MShA UELOZR MN-AAR | כח ויפשט משה את-אהרן את-בגדיו וילבש אתם את-אלעזר בנו וימת אהרן שם בראש ההר וירד משה ואלעזר מן-ההר | ||
