| 5 Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people to David. | 7 God was displeased with this thing; therefore He smote Israel. | Z UIRO BOINI AELAIM OL-ADBR AZA UIK ETh-IShREL | ז וירע בעיני האלהים על-הדבר הזה ויך את-ישראל | ||
| 8 David said to God: 'I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing; but now, put away, I beseech You, the iniquity of Your servant; for I have done very foolishly.' | Ch UIEMR DUID EL-AELAIM ChTEThI MED EShR OShIThI ETh-ADBR AZA UOThA AOBR-NE ETh-OUUN OBDK KI NSKLThI MED | ח ויאמר דויד אל-האלהים חטאתי מאד אשר עשיתי את-הדבר הזה ועתה העבר-נא את-עוון עבדך כי נסכלתי מאד | ||

| 10 'Go and speak to David, saying: Thus says IAUA: I offer you three things; choose you one of them, that I may do it to you.' | I LK UDBRTh EL-DUID LEMR KA EMR IAUA ShLUSh ENI NTA OLIK BChR-LK EChTh MANA UEOShA-LK | י לך ודברת אל-דויד לאמר כה אמר יהוה שלוש אני נטה עליך בחר-לך אחת מהנה ואעשה-לך | ||
| 11 So Gad came to David, and said to him: 'Thus says IAUA: Take which you will: | IE UIBE GD EL-DUID UIEMR LU KA-EMR IAUA QBL-LK | יא ויבא גד אל-דויד ויאמר לו כה-אמר יהוה קבל-לך | ||
| 12 either three years of famine; or three months to be swept away before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days the sword of IAUA, even pestilence in the land, and the angel of IAUA destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. | 14 So IAUA sent a pestilence on Israel; and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men. | ID UIThN IAUA DBR BIShREL UIFL MIShREL ShBOIM ELF EISh | יד ויתן יהוה דבר בישראל ויפל מישראל שבעים אלף איש | ||
| 15 God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it; and as he was about to destroy, IAUA beheld, and He repented Him of the evil, and said to the destroying angel: 'It is enough; now stay your hand.' | 16 David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of IAUA standing between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. | 18 Then the angel of IAUA commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and rear an altar to IAUA in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite. | ICh UMLEK IAUA EMR EL-GD LEMR LDUID KI IOLA DUID LAQIM MZBCh LIAUA BGRN ERNN AIBSI | יח ומלאך יהוה אמר אל-גד לאמר לדויד כי יעלה דויד להקים מזבח ליהוה בגרן ארנן היבסי | ||
| 19 David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of IAUA. | IT UIOL DUID BDBR-GD EShR DBR BShM IAUA | יט ויעל דויד בדבר-גד אשר דבר בשם יהוה | ||
| 20 Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons that were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat. | K UIShB ERNN UIRE ETh-AMLEK UERBOTh BNIU OMU MThChBEIM UERNN DSh ChTIM | כ וישב ארנן וירא את-המלאך וארבעת בניו עמו מתחבאים וארנן דש חטים | ||

| 26 David built there an altar to IAUA, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and called on IAUA; and He answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt-offering. | KU UIBN ShM DUID MZBCh LIAUA UIOL OLUTh UShLMIM UIQRE EL-IAUA UIONAU BESh MN-AShMIM OL MZBCh AOLA | כו ויבן שם דויד מזבח ליהוה ויעל עלות ושלמים ויקרא אל-יהוה ויענהו באש מן-השמים על מזבח העלה | ||
| 27 IAUA commanded the angel; and he put up his sword back into the sheath thereof. | KZ UIEMR IAUA LMLEK UIShB ChRBU EL-NDNA | כז ויאמר יהוה למלאך וישב חרבו אל-נדנה | ||
| 28 At that time, when David saw that IAUA had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there. | KCh BOTh AAIE BREUTh DUID KI-ONAU IAUA BGRN ERNN AIBUSI UIZBCh ShM | כח בעת ההיא בראות דויד כי-ענהו יהוה בגרן ארנן היבוסי ויזבח שם | ||
