Defeat and Death of Saul and His Sons | ||||

| 2 The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul. | B UIDBQU FLShThIM EChRI ShEUL UEChRI BNIU UIKU FLShThIM ETh-IUNThN UETh-EBINDB UETh-MLKIShUO BNI ShEUL | ב וידבקו פלשתים אחרי שאול ואחרי בניו ויכו פלשתים את-יונתן ואת-אבינדב ואת-מלכישוע בני שאול | ||

| 4 Then said Saul to his armour-bearer: 'Draw your sword, and thrust me through therewith; unless these uncircumcised come and make a mock of me.' But his armour-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. | 5 When his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died. | A UIRE NShE-KLIU KI MTh ShEUL UIFL GM-AUE OL-AChRB UIMTh | ה וירא נשא-כליו כי מת שאול ויפל גם-הוא על-החרב וימת | ||

| 9 They stripped him, and took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry the tidings to their idols, and to the people. | T UIFShITAU UIShEU ETh-REShU UETh-KLIU UIShLChU BERTs-FLShThIM SBIB LBShR ETh-OTsBIAM UETh-AOM | ט ויפשיטהו וישאו את-ראשו ואת-כליו וישלחו בארץ-פלשתים סביב לבשר את-עצביהם ואת-העם | ||
| 10 They put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon. | I UIShIMU ETh-KLIU BITh ELAIAM UETh-GLGLThU ThQOU BITh DGUN | י וישימו את-כליו בית אלהיהם ואת-גלגלתו תקעו בית דגון | ||
| 11 When all Jabesh-gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul, | IE UIShMOU KL IBISh GLOD ETh KL-EShR-OShU FLShThIM LShEUL | יא וישמעו כל יביש גלעד את כל-אשר-עשו פלשתים לשאול | ||
| 12 all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the terebinth in Jabesh, and fasted seven days. | IB UIQUMU KL-EISh ChIL UIShEU ETh-GUFTh ShEUL UETh GUFTh BNIU UIBIEUM IBIShA UIQBRU ETh-OTsMUThIAM ThChTh AELA BIBSh UITsUMU ShBOTh IMIM | יב ויקומו כל-איש חיל וישאו את-גופת שאול ואת גופת בניו ויביאום יבישה ויקברו את-עצמותיהם תחת האלה ביבש ויצומו שבעת ימים | ||
