The Burning Bush
1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the farthest end of the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God, unto Horeb. 2 The angel of IAUA appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the middle of a bush; and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 Moses said: 'I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.' G UIEMR MShA ESRA NE UEREA ETh AMREA AGDL AZA MDUO LE IBOR ASNA ג ויאמר משה אסרה נא ואראה את המראה הגדל הזה מדוע לא יבער הסנה
4 When IAUA saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the middle of the bush, and said: 'Moses, Moses.' He said: 'Here am I.' D UIRE IAUA KI SR LREUTh UIQRE ELIU ELAIM MThUK ASNA UIEMR MShA MShA UIEMR ANNI ד וירא יהוה כי סר לראות ויקרא אליו אלהים מתוך הסנה ויאמר משה משה ויאמר הנני

6 Moreover He said: 'I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. 7 IAUA said: 'I have surely seen the affliction of My people that are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their pains; Z UIEMR IAUA REA REIThI ETh ONI OMI EShR BMTsRIM UETh TsOQThM ShMOThI MFNI NGShIU KI IDOThI ETh MKEBIU ז ויאמר יהוה ראה ראיתי את עני עמי אשר במצרים ואת צעקתם שמעתי מפני נגשיו כי ידעתי את מכאביו
8 and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. 9 Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto Me; moreover I have seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. T UOThA ANA TsOQTh BNI IShREL BEA ELI UGM REIThI ETh ALChTs EShR MTsRIM LChTsIM EThM ט ועתה הנה צעקת בני ישראל באה אלי וגם ראיתי את הלחץ אשר מצרים לחצים אתם
10 Come now therefore, and I will send you unto Pharaoh, that you may bring forth My people the children of Israel out of Egypt.' I UOThA LKA UEShLChK EL FROA UAUTsE ETh OMI BNI IShREL MMTsRIM י ועתה לכה ואשלחך אל פרעה והוצא את עמי בני ישראל ממצרים
11 Moses said unto God: 'Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?' IE UIEMR MShA EL AELAIM MI ENKI KI ELK EL FROA UKI EUTsIE ETh BNI IShREL MMTsRIM יא ויאמר משה אל האלהים מי אנכי כי אלך אל פרעה וכי אוציא את בני ישראל ממצרים
12 He said: 'Certainly I will be with you; and this shall be the token unto you, that I have sent you: when you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God upon this mountain.' 13 Moses said unto God: 'Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them: The God of your fathers has sent me unto you; and they shall say to me: What is His name? what shall I say unto them?' 15 God said moreover unto Moses: 'Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel: IAUA, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you; this is My name for ever, and this is My memorial unto all generations. 16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them: IAUA, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared unto me, saying: I have surely remembered you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt. 17 I have said: I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. 18 They shall hearken to your voice. You shall come, you and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and you shall say unto him: IAUA, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now let us go, we pray you, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to IAUA our God. 19 I know that the king of Egypt will not give you leave to go, except by a mighty hand. IT UENI IDOThI KI LE IThN EThKM MLK MTsRIM LALK ULE BID ChZQA יט ואני ידעתי כי לא יתן אתכם מלך מצרים להלך ולא ביד חזקה
20 I will put forth My hand, and smite Egypt with all My wonders which I will do in the middle thereof. After that he will let you go. K UShLChThI ETh IDI UAKIThI ETh MTsRIM BKL NFLEThI EShR EOShA BQRBU UEChRI KN IShLCh EThKM כ ושלחתי את ידי והכיתי את מצרים בכל נפלאתי אשר אעשה בקרבו ואחרי כן ישלח אתכם
21 I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. It shall come to pass, that, when you go, you shall not go empty; KE UNThThI ETh ChN AOM AZA BOINI MTsRIM UAIA KI ThLKUN LE ThLKU RIQM כא ונתתי את חן העם הזה בעיני מצרים והיה כי תלכון לא תלכו ריקם
22 but every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her that sojourns in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment; and you shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and you shall spoil the Egyptians.' The Burning Bush
