Bathsheba, David's Great Sin | ||||
| 1 It came to pass, at the return of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. | 4 David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness; and she returned to her house. | D UIShLCh DUD MLEKIM UIQChA UThBUE ELIU UIShKB OMA UAIE MThQDShTh MTMEThA UThShB EL-BIThA | ד וישלח דוד מלאכים ויקחה ותבוא אליו וישכב עמה והיא מתקדשת מטמאתה ותשב אל-ביתה | ||
| 5 The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said: 'I am with child.' | A UThAR AEShA UThShLCh UThGD LDUD UThEMR ARA ENKI | ה ותהר האשה ותשלח ותגד לדוד ותאמר הרה אנכי | ||
| 6 David sent to Joab[, saying]: 'Send me Uriah the Hittite.' Joab sent Uriah to David. | U UIShLCh DUD EL-IUEB ShLCh ELI ETh-EURIA AChThI UIShLCh IUEB ETh-EURIA EL-DUD | ו וישלח דוד אל-יואב שלח אלי את-אוריה החתי וישלח יואב את-אוריה אל-דוד | ||
| 7 When Uriah was come to him, David asked of him how Joab did, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered. | Z UIBE EURIA ELIU UIShEL DUD LShLUM IUEB ULShLUM AOM ULShLUM AMLChMA | ז ויבא אוריה אליו וישאל דוד לשלום יואב ולשלום העם ולשלום המלחמה | ||
| 8 David said to Uriah: 'Go down to your house, and wash your feet.' | 10 When they had told David, saying: 'Uriah went not down to his house', David said to Uriah: 'Are you not come from a journey? wherefore didst you not go down to your house?' | I UIGDU LDUD LEMR LE-IRD EURIA EL-BIThU UIEMR DUD EL-EURIA ALUE MDRK EThA BE MDUO LE-IRDTh EL-BIThK | י ויגדו לדוד לאמר לא-ירד אוריה אל-ביתו ויאמר דוד אל-אוריה הלוא מדרך אתה בא מדוע לא-ירדת אל-ביתך | ||

| 12 David said to Uriah: 'Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let you depart.' | 14 It came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. | ID UIAI BBQR UIKThB DUD SFR EL-IUEB UIShLCh BID EURIA | יד ויהי בבקר ויכתב דוד ספר אל-יואב וישלח ביד אוריה | ||
| 15 He wrote in the letter, saying: 'Set you Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire you from him, that he may be smitten, and die.' | TU UIKThB BSFR LEMR ABU ETh-EURIA EL-MUL FNI AMLChMA AChZQA UShBThM MEChRIU UNKA UMTh | טו ויכתב בספר לאמר הבו את-אוריה אל-מול פני המלחמה החזקה ושבתם מאחריו ונכה ומת | ||
| 16 It came to pass, when Joab kept watch on the city, that he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were. | TZ UIAI BShMUR IUEB EL-AOIR UIThN ETh-EURIA EL-AMQUM EShR IDO KI ENShI-ChIL ShM | טז ויהי בשמור יואב אל-העיר ויתן את-אוריה אל-המקום אשר ידע כי אנשי-חיל שם | ||
| 17 The men of the city went out, and fought with Joab; and there fell some of the people, even of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also. | IZ UITsEU ENShI AOIR UILChMU ETh-IUEB UIFL MN-AOM MOBDI DUD UIMTh GM EURIA AChThI | יז ויצאו אנשי העיר וילחמו את-יואב ויפל מן-העם מעבדי דוד וימת גם אוריה החתי | ||
| 18 Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war; | ICh UIShLCh IUEB UIGD LDUD ETh-KL-DBRI AMLChMA | יח וישלח יואב ויגד לדוד את-כל-דברי המלחמה | ||
| 19 and he charged the messenger, saying: 'When you have made an end of telling all the things concerning the war to the king, | IT UITsU ETh-AMLEK LEMR KKLUThK ETh KL-DBRI AMLChMA LDBR EL-AMLK | יט ויצו את-המלאך לאמר ככלותך את כל-דברי המלחמה לדבר אל-המלך | ||
| 20 it shall be that, if the king's wrath arise, and he say to you: Wherefore went you so nigh to the city to fight? knew you not that they would shoot from the wall? | K UAIA EM-ThOLA ChMTh AMLK UEMR LK MDUO NGShThM EL-AOIR LALChM ALUE IDOThM ETh EShR-IRU MOL AChUMA | כ והיה אם-תעלה חמת המלך ואמר לך מדוע נגשתם אל-העיר להלחם הלוא ידעתם את אשר-ירו מעל החומה | ||
| 21 who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast an upper millstone on him from the wall, that he died at Thebez? why went you so nigh the wall? then shall you say: Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.' | KE MI-AKA ETh-EBIMLK BN-IRBShTh ALUE-EShA AShLIKA OLIU FLCh RKB MOL AChUMA UIMTh BThBTs LMA NGShThM EL-AChUMA UEMRTh GM OBDK EURIA AChThI MTh | כא מי-הכה את-אבימלך בן-ירבשת הלוא-אשה השליכה עליו פלח רכב מעל החומה וימת בתבץ למה נגשתם אל-החומה ואמרת גם עבדך אוריה החתי מת | ||
| 22 So the messenger went, and came and told David all that Joab had sent him for. | KB UILK AMLEK UIBE UIGD LDUD ETh KL-EShR ShLChU IUEB | כב וילך המלאך ויבא ויגד לדוד את כל-אשר שלחו יואב | ||
| 23 The messenger said to David: 'The men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field, and we were on them even to the entrance of the gate. | KG UIEMR AMLEK EL-DUD KI-GBRU OLINU AENShIM UITsEU ELINU AShDA UNAIA OLIAM OD-FThCh AShOR | כג ויאמר המלאך אל-דוד כי-גברו עלינו האנשים ויצאו אלינו השדה ונהיה עליהם עד-פתח השער | ||
| 24 The shooters shot at your servants from off the wall; and some of the king's servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.' | KD UIREU AMUREIM EL-OBDIK MOL AChUMA UIMUThU MOBDI AMLK UGM OBDK EURIA AChThI MTh | כד ויראו המוראים אל-עבדיך מעל החומה וימותו מעבדי המלך וגם עבדך אוריה החתי מת | ||

| 27 When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son.
