On Life and Conduct | ||||

7 For as one that has reckoned within himself, so is he: 'Eat and drink', says he to you; but his heart is not with you. | Z KI KMU ShOR BNFShU KN-AUE EKUL UShThA IEMR LK ULBU BL-OMK | ז כי כמו שער בנפשו כן-הוא אכול ושתה יאמר לך ולבו בל-עמך | ||
8 The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet words. | Ch FThK-EKLTh ThQIENA UShChTh DBRIK ANOIMIM | ח פתך-אכלת תקיאנה ושחת דבריך הנעימים | ||
9 Speak not in the ears of a fool; for he will despise the wisdom of your words. | T BEZNI KSIL EL-ThDBR KI-IBUZ LShKL MLIK | ט באזני כסיל אל-תדבר כי-יבוז לשכל מליך | ||
10 Remove not the ancient landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless; | I EL-ThSG GBUL OULM UBShDI IThUMIM EL-ThBE | י אל-תסג גבול עולם ובשדי יתומים אל-תבא | ||
11 For their Redeemer is strong; He will plead their cause with you. | IE KI-GELM ChZQ AUE-IRIB ETh-RIBM EThK | יא כי-גאלם חזק הוא-יריב את-ריבם אתך | ||
12 Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge. | IB ABIEA LMUSR LBK UEZNK LEMRI-DOTh | יב הביאה למוסר לבך ואזנך לאמרי-דעת | ||
13 Withhold not correction from the child; for though you beat him with the rod, he will not die. | IG EL-ThMNO MNOR MUSR KI-ThKNU BShBT LE IMUTh | יג אל-תמנע מנער מוסר כי-תכנו בשבט לא ימות | ||
14 You beat him with the rod, and will deliver his soul from the nether-world. | ID EThA BShBT ThKNU UNFShU MShEUL ThTsIL | יד אתה בשבט תכנו ונפשו משאול תציל | ||
15 My son, if your heart be wise, my heart will be glad, even mine; | TU BNI EM-ChKM LBK IShMCh LBI GM-ENI | טו בני אם-חכם לבך ישמח לבי גם-אני | ||
16 Yes, my reins will rejoice, when your lips speak right things. | TZ UThOLZNA KLIUThI BDBR ShFThIK MIShRIM | טז ותעלזנה כליותי בדבר שפתיך מישרים | ||
17 Let not your heart envy sinners, but be in the fear of IAUA all the day; | IZ EL-IQNE LBK BChTEIM KI EM-BIRETh-IAUA KL-AIUM | יז אל-יקנא לבך בחטאים כי אם-ביראת-יהוה כל-היום | ||
18 For surely there is a future; and your hope shall not be cut off. | ICh KI EM-ISh EChRITh UThQUThK LE ThKRTh | יח כי אם-יש אחרית ותקותך לא תכרת | ||
19 Hear you, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way. | IT ShMO-EThA BNI UChKM UEShR BDRK LBK | יט שמע-אתה בני וחכם ואשר בדרך לבך | ||
20 Be not among winebibbers; among gluttonous eaters of flesh; | K EL-ThAI BSBEI-IIN BZLLI BShR LMU | כ אל-תהי בסבאי-יין בזללי בשר למו | ||
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. | KE KI-SBE UZULL IURSh UQROIM ThLBISh NUMA | כא כי-סבא וזולל יורש וקרעים תלביש נומה | ||
22 Hearken to your father that begot you, and despise not your mother when she is old. | KB ShMO LEBIK ZA ILDK UEL-ThBUZ KI-ZQNA EMK | כב שמע לאביך זה ילדך ואל-תבוז כי-זקנה אמך | ||
23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. | KG EMTh QNA UEL-ThMKR ChKMA UMUSR UBINA | כג אמת קנה ואל-תמכר חכמה ומוסר ובינה | ||
24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; and he that begets a wise child will have joy of him. | KD GUL (GIL) IGIL EBI TsDIQ IULD (UIULD) ChKM UIShMCh- (IShMCh-) BU | כד גול (גיל) יגיל אבי צדיק יולד (ויולד) חכם וישמח- (ישמח-) בו | ||

26 My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. | KU ThNA-BNI LBK LI UOINIK DRKI ThRTsNA (ThTsRNA) | כו תנה-בני לבך לי ועיניך דרכי תרצנה (תצרנה) | ||
27 For a harlot is a deep ditch; and an alien woman is a narrow pit. | KZ KI-ShUChA OMQA ZUNA UBER TsRA NKRIA | כז כי-שוחה עמקה זונה ובאר צרה נכריה | ||
