| 4 Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah, | D ULFNI MZA ELIShIB AKAN NThUN BLShKTh BITh-ELAINU QRUB LTUBIA | ד ולפני מזה אלישיב הכהן נתון בלשכת בית-אלהינו קרוב לטוביה | ||

| 8 It grieved me sore; therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the chamber. | Ch UIRO LI MED UEShLIKA ETh-KL-KLI BITh-TUBIA AChUTs MN-ALShKA | ח וירע לי מאד ואשליכה את-כל-כלי בית-טוביה החוץ מן-הלשכה | ||

| 11 Then contended I with the rulers, and said: 'Why is the house of God forsaken?' I gathered them together, and set them in their place. | IE UERIBA ETh-ASGNIM UEMRA MDUO NOZB BITh-AELAIM UEQBTsM UEOMDM OL-OMDM | יא ואריבה את-הסגנים ואמרה מדוע נעזב בית-האלהים ואקבצם ואעמדם על-עמדם | ||
| 12 Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the wine and the oil to the treasuries. | IB UKL-IAUDA ABIEU MOShR ADGN UAThIRUSh UAITsAR LEUTsRUTh | יב וכל-יהודה הביאו מעשר הדגן והתירוש והיצהר לאוצרות | ||

| 20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. | K UILINU ARKLIM UMKRI KL-MMKR MChUTs LIRUShLM FOM UShThIM | כ וילינו הרכלים ומכרי כל-ממכר מחוץ לירושלם פעם ושתים | ||
| 21 Then I forewarned them, and said to them: 'Why lodge you about the wall? if you do so again, I will lay hands on you.' | 22 I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day.
