The Purifier
1 Behold, I send My messenger, and he shall clear the way before Me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple, and the messenger of the covenant, whom you delight in, behold, he comes, says IAUA of hosts. 3 He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver; and there shall be they that shall offer unto IAUA offerings in righteousness. 5 I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers; and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me, says IAUA of hosts. 7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from Mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, says IAUA of hosts. But you say: 'Wherein shall we return?' 10 Bring you the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now herewith, says IAUA of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall be more than sufficiency. 11 I will rebuke the devourer for your good, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your land; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, says IAUA of hosts. 13 Your words have been all too strong against Me, says IAUA. Yet you say: 'Wherein have we spoken against you?' IG ChZQU OLI DBRIKM EMR IAUA UEMRThM MA NDBRNU OLIK יג חזקו עלי דבריכם אמר יהוה ואמרתם מה נדברנו עליך
14 You have said: 'It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked mournfully because of IAUA of hosts? ID EMRThM ShUE OBD ELAIM UMA BTsO KI ShMRNU MShMRThU UKI ALKNU QDRNITh MFNI IAUA TsBEUTh יד אמרתם שוא עבד אלהים ומה בצע כי שמרנו משמרתו וכי הלכנו קדרנית מפני יהוה צבאות
15 Now we call the proud happy; yes, they that work wickedness are built up; yes, they try God, and are delivered.' TU UOThA ENChNU MEShRIM ZDIM GM NBNU OShI RShOA GM BChNU ELAIM UIMLTU טו ועתה אנחנו מאשרים זדים גם נבנו עשי רשעה גם בחנו אלהים וימלטו
16 Then they that feared IAUA spoke one with another; and IAUA hearkened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before Him, for them that feared IAUA, and that thought upon His name. 17 They shall be Mine, says IAUA of hosts, in the day that I do make, even Mine own treasure; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him. 18 Then shall you again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves Him not. {P} ICh UShBThM UREIThM BIN TsDIQ LRShO BIN OBD ELAIM LEShR LE OBDU {F} יח ושבתם וראיתם בין צדיק לרשע בין עבד אלהים לאשר לא עבדו {פ}
19 For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall set them ablaze, says IAUA of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 21 You shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I do make, says IAUA of hosts. {P} KE UOSUThM RShOIM KI IAIU EFR ThChTh KFUTh RGLIKM BIUM EShR ENI OShA EMR IAUA TsBEUTh {F} כא ועסותם רשעים כי יהיו אפר תחת כפות רגליכם ביום אשר אני עשה אמר יהוה צבאות {פ}
22 Remember you the law of Moses My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances. KB ZKRU ThURTh MShA OBDI EShR TsUIThI EUThU BChRB OL KL IShREL ChQIM UMShFTIM כב זכרו תורת משה עבדי אשר צויתי אותו בחרב על כל ישראל חקים ומשפטים
23 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of IAUA. KG ANA ENKI ShLCh LKM ETh ELIA ANBIE LFNI BUE IUM IAUA AGDUL UANURE כג הנה אנכי שלח לכם את אליה הנביא לפני בוא יום יהוה הגדול והנורא
