Israel Rebuked
1 The angel of IAUA came up from Gilgal to Bochim. {P} He said: '... I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said: I will never break My covenant with you; E UIOL MLEK IAUA MN AGLGL EL ABKIM {F} UIEMR EOLA EThKM MMTsRIM UEBIE EThKM EL AERTs EShR NShBOThI LEBThIKM UEMR LE EFR BRIThI EThKM LOULM א ויעל מלאך יהוה מן הגלגל אל הבכים {פ} ויאמר אעלה אתכם ממצרים ואביא אתכם אל הארץ אשר נשבעתי לאבתיכם ואמר לא אפר בריתי אתכם לעולם
2 and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars; but you have not hearkened unto My voice; what is this you have done? 4 It came to pass, when the angel of IAUA spoke these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept. D UIAI KDBR MLEK IAUA ETh ADBRIM AELA EL KL BNI IShREL UIShEU AOM ETh QULM UIBKU ד ויהי כדבר מלאך יהוה את הדברים האלה אל כל בני ישראל וישאו העם את קולם ויבכו
5 They called the name of that place Bochim; and they sacrificed there unto IAUA. {P} A UIQREU ShM AMQUM AAUE BKIM UIZBChU ShM LIAUA {F} ה ויקראו שם המקום ההוא בכים ויזבחו שם ליהוה {פ}
6 Now when Joshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land. U UIShLCh IAUShO ETh AOM UILKU BNI IShREL EISh LNChLThU LRShTh ETh AERTs ו וישלח יהושע את העם וילכו בני ישראל איש לנחלתו לרשת את הארץ
7 The people served IAUA all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of IAUA, that He had wrought for Israel. 8 Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of IAUA, died, being a hundred and ten years old. Ch UIMTh IAUShO BN NUN OBD IAUA BN MEA UOShR ShNIM ח וימת יהושע בן נון עבד יהוה בן מאה ועשר שנים
9 They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash. T UIQBRU EUThU BGBUL NChLThU BThMNTh ChRS BAR EFRIM MTsFUN LAR GOSh ט ויקברו אותו בגבול נחלתו בתמנת חרס בהר אפרים מצפון להר געש
10 Also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, that knew not IAUA, nor yet the work which He had wrought for Israel. {P} I UGM KL ADUR AAUE NESFU EL EBUThIU UIQM DUR EChR EChRIAM EShR LE IDOU ETh IAUA UGM ETh AMOShA EShR OShA LIShREL {F} י וגם כל הדור ההוא נאספו אל אבותיו ויקם דור אחר אחריהם אשר לא ידעו את יהוה וגם את המעשה אשר עשה לישראל {פ}
11 The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of IAUA, and served the Baalim. IE UIOShU BNI IShREL ETh ARO BOINI IAUA UIOBDU ETh ABOLIM יא ויעשו בני ישראל את הרע בעיני יהוה ויעבדו את הבעלים
12 They forsook IAUA, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples that were round about them, and worshipped them; and they provoked IAUA. IB UIOZBU ETh IAUA ELAI EBUThM AMUTsIE EUThM MERTs MTsRIM UILKU EChRI ELAIM EChRIM MELAI AOMIM EShR SBIBUThIAM UIShThChUU LAM UIKOSU ETh IAUA יב ויעזבו את יהוה אלהי אבותם המוציא אותם מארץ מצרים וילכו אחרי אלהים אחרים מאלהי העמים אשר סביבותיהם וישתחוו להם ויכעסו את יהוה
13 They forsook IAUA, and served Baal and the Ashtaroth. IG UIOZBU ETh IAUA UIOBDU LBOL ULOShThRUTh יג ויעזבו את יהוה ויעבדו לבעל ולעשתרות
14 The anger of IAUA was kindled against Israel, and He delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and He gave them over into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies. ID UIChR EF IAUA BIShREL UIThNM BID ShSIM UIShSU EUThM UIMKRM BID EUIBIAM MSBIB ULE IKLU OUD LOMD LFNI EUIBIAM יד ויחר אף יהוה בישראל ויתנם ביד שסים וישסו אותם וימכרם ביד אויביהם מסביב ולא יכלו עוד לעמד לפני אויביהם
15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of IAUA was against them for evil, as IAUA had spoken, and as IAUA had sworn unto them; and they were sore distressed. 16 IAUA raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those that spoiled them. TZ UIQM IAUA ShFTIM UIUShIOUM MID ShSIAM טז ויקם יהוה שפטים ויושיעום מיד שסיהם
17 Yet they hearkened not unto their judges, for they went astray after other gods, and worshipped them; they turned aside quickly out of the way wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of IAUA; they did not so. IZ UGM EL ShFTIAM LE ShMOU KI ZNU EChRI ELAIM EChRIM UIShThChUU LAM SRU MAR MN ADRK EShR ALKU EBUThM LShMO MTsUTh IAUA LE OShU KN יז וגם אל שפטיהם לא שמעו כי זנו אחרי אלהים אחרים וישתחוו להם סרו מהר מן הדרך אשר הלכו אבותם לשמע מצות יהוה לא עשו כן
18 When IAUA raised them up judges, then IAUA was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repented IAUA because of their groaning by reason of them that oppressed them and crushed them. ICh UKI AQIM IAUA LAM ShFTIM UAIA IAUA OM AShFT UAUShIOM MID EIBIAM KL IMI AShUFT KI INChM IAUA MNEQThM MFNI LChTsIAM UDChQIAM יח וכי הקים יהוה להם שפטים והיה יהוה עם השפט והושיעם מיד איביהם כל ימי השופט כי ינחם יהוה מנאקתם מפני לחציהם ודחקיהם
19 But it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to worship them; they left nothing undone of their practices, nor of their stubborn way. IT UAIA BMUTh AShUFT IShBU UAShChIThU MEBUThM LLKTh EChRI ELAIM EChRIM LOBDM ULAShThChUTh LAM LE AFILU MMOLLIAM UMDRKM AQShA יט והיה במות השופט ישבו והשחיתו מאבותם ללכת אחרי אלהים אחרים לעבדם ולהשתחות להם לא הפילו ממעלליהם ומדרכם הקשה
20 The anger of IAUA was kindled against Israel; and He said: 'Because this nation have transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto My voice; K UIChR EF IAUA BIShREL UIEMR ION EShR OBRU AGUI AZA ETh BRIThI EShR TsUIThI ETh EBUThM ULE ShMOU LQULI כ ויחר אף יהוה בישראל ויאמר יען אשר עברו הגוי הזה את בריתי אשר צויתי את אבותם ולא שמעו לקולי
21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations that Joshua left when he died; KE GM ENI LE EUSIF LAURISh EISh MFNIAM MN AGUIM EShR OZB IAUShO UIMTh כא גם אני לא אוסיף להוריש איש מפניהם מן הגוים אשר עזב יהושע וימת
22 that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of IAUA to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.' KB LMON NSUTh BM ETh IShREL AShMRIM AM ETh DRK IAUA LLKTh BM KEShR ShMRU EBUThM EM LE כב למען נסות בם את ישראל השמרים הם את דרך יהוה ללכת בם כאשר שמרו אבותם אם לא
23 So IAUA left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered He them into the hand of Joshua. {P} KG UINCh IAUA ETh AGUIM AELA LBLThI AURIShM MAR ULE NThNM BID IAUShO {F} כג וינח יהוה את הגוים האלה לבלתי הורישם מהר ולא נתנם ביד יהושע {פ}
