Philistines Oppress Again

2 There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bore not. B UIAI EISh EChD MTsROA MMShFChTh ADNI UShMU MNUCh UEShThU OQRA ULE ILDA ב ויהי איש אחד מצרעה ממשפחת הדני ושמו מנוח ואשתו עקרה ולא ילדה
3 The angel of IAUA appeared to the woman, and said to her: 'Behold now, you are barren, and have not borne; but you shall conceive, and bear a son. 4 Now therefore beware, I pray you, and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing. D UOThA AShMRI NE UEL-ThShThI IIN UShKR UEL-ThEKLI KL-TME ד ועתה השמרי נא ואל-תשתי יין ושכר ואל-תאכלי כל-טמא
5 For, lo, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.' 6 Then the woman came and told her husband, saying: 'A man of God came to me, and his countenance was like the countenance of the angel of God, very terrible; and I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name; U UThBE AEShA UThEMR LEIShA LEMR EISh AELAIM BE ELI UMREAU KMREA MLEK AELAIM NURE MED ULE ShELThIAU EI-MZA AUE UETh-ShMU LE-AGID LI ו ותבא האשה ותאמר לאישה לאמר איש האלהים בא אלי ומראהו כמראה מלאך האלהים נורא מאד ולא שאלתיהו אי-מזה הוא ואת-שמו לא-הגיד לי
7 but he said to me: Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.' 8 Then Manoah entreated IAUA, and said: 'Please, my Lord, let the man of God whom You sent come again to us, and teach us what we need to do for the child that will be born.' 9 God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field; but Manoah her husband was not with her. T UIShMO AELAIM BQUL MNUCh UIBE MLEK AELAIM OUD EL-AEShA UAIE IUShBTh BShDA UMNUCh EIShA EIN OMA ט וישמע האלהים בקול מנוח ויבא מלאך האלהים עוד אל-האשה והיא יושבת בשדה ומנוח אישה אין עמה
10 The woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said to him: 'Behold, the man has appeared to me, that came to me that day.' I UThMAR AEShA UThRTs UThGD LEIShA UThEMR ELIU ANA NREA ELI AEISh EShR-BE BIUM ELI י ותמהר האשה ותרץ ותגד לאישה ותאמר אליו הנה נראה אלי האיש אשר-בא ביום אלי
11 Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him: 'Are you the man that spoke to the woman?' He said: 'I am.' IE UIQM UILK MNUCh EChRI EShThU UIBE EL-AEISh UIEMR LU AEThA AEISh EShR-DBRTh EL-AEShA UIEMR ENI יא ויקם וילך מנוח אחרי אשתו ויבא אל-האיש ויאמר לו האתה האיש אשר-דברת אל-האשה ויאמר אני
12 Manoah said: 'Now when your word comes to pass, what shall be the rule for the child, and what shall be done with him?' IB UIEMR MNUCh OThA IBE DBRIK MA-IAIA MShFT-ANOR UMOShAU יב ויאמר מנוח עתה יבא דבריך מה-יהיה משפט-הנער ומעשהו
13 The angel of IAUA said to Manoah: 'Of all that I said to the woman let her beware. IG UIEMR MLEK IAUA EL-MNUCh MKL EShR-EMRThI EL-AEShA ThShMR יג ויאמר מלאך יהוה אל-מנוח מכל אשר-אמרתי אל-האשה תשמר
14 She may not eat of any thing that comes of the grapevine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe.' 15 Manoah said to the angel of IAUA: 'I pray you, let us detain you, that we may make ready a kid for you.' TU UIEMR MNUCh EL-MLEK IAUA NOTsRA-NE EUThK UNOShA LFNIK GDI OZIM טו ויאמר מנוח אל-מלאך יהוה נעצרה-נא אותך ונעשה לפניך גדי עזים
16 The angel of IAUA said to Manoah: 'Though you detain me, I will not eat of your bread; and if you will make ready a burnt-offering, you must offer it to IAUA.' For Manoah knew not that he was the angel of IAUA. 17 Manoah said to the angel of IAUA: 'What is your name, that when your words come to pass we may do you honour?' IZ UIEMR MNUCh EL-MLEK IAUA MI ShMK KI-IBE DBRIK (DBRK) UKBDNUK יז ויאמר מנוח אל-מלאך יהוה מי שמך כי-יבא דבריך (דברך) וכבדנוך
18 The angel of IAUA said to him: 'Wherefore ask you after my name, seeing it is hidden?' ICh UIEMR LU MLEK IAUA LMA ZA ThShEL LShMI UAUE-FLEI יח ויאמר לו מלאך יהוה למה זה תשאל לשמי והוא-פלאי
19 So Manoah took the kid with the meal-offering, and offered it on the rock to IAUA; and [the angel] did wondrously, and Manoah and his wife looked on. IT UIQCh MNUCh ETh-GDI AOZIM UETh-AMNChA UIOL OL-ATsUR LIAUA UMFLE LOShUTh UMNUCh UEShThU REIM יט ויקח מנוח את-גדי העזים ואת-המנחה ויעל על-הצור ליהוה ומפלא לעשות ומנוח ואשתו ראים
20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of IAUA ascended in the flame of the altar; and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground. 21 But the angel of IAUA did no more appear to Manoah or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of IAUA. KE ULE-ISF OUD MLEK IAUA LAREA EL-MNUCh UEL-EShThU EZ IDO MNUCh KI-MLEK IAUA AUE כא ולא-יסף עוד מלאך יהוה להראה אל-מנוח ואל-אשתו אז ידע מנוח כי-מלאך יהוה הוא
22 Manoah said to his wife: 'We shall surely die, because we have seen God.' KB UIEMR MNUCh EL-EShThU MUTh NMUTh KI ELAIM REINU כב ויאמר מנוח אל-אשתו מות נמות כי אלהים ראינו
23 But his wife said to him: 'If IAUA were pleased to kill us, He would not have received a burnt-offering and a meal-offering at our hand, neither would He have shown us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these.' KG UThEMR LU EShThU LU ChFTs IAUA LAMIThNU LE-LQCh MIDNU OLA UMNChA ULE ARENU ETh-KL-ELA UKOTh LE AShMIONU KZETh כג ותאמר לו אשתו לו חפץ יהוה להמיתנו לא-לקח מידנו עלה ומנחה ולא הראנו את-כל-אלה וכעת לא השמיענו כזאת
24 The woman bore a son, and called his name Samson; and the child grew, and IAUA blessed him. KD UThLD AEShA BN UThQRE ETh-ShMU ShMShUN UIGDL ANOR UIBRKAU IAUA כד ותלד האשה בן ותקרא את-שמו שמשון ויגדל הנער ויברכהו יהוה
