Job's Friends Are No Help | ||||

| 2 O that my vexation were but weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances altogether! | B LU ShQUL IShQL KOShI UAIThI (UAUThI) BMEZNIM IShEU-IChD | ב לו שקול ישקל כעשי והיתי (והותי) במאזנים ישאו-יחד | ||
| 3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas; therefore are my words broken. | G KI-OThA MChUL IMIM IKBD OL-KN DBRI LOU | ג כי-עתה מחול ימים יכבד על-כן דברי לעו | ||
| 4 For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof my spirit drinks up; the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. | D KI ChTsI ShDI OMDI EShR ChMThM ShThA RUChI BOUThI ELUA IORKUNI | ד כי חצי שדי עמדי אשר חמתם שתה רוחי בעותי אלוה יערכוני | ||
| 5 Does the wild ass bray when he has grass? or lows the ox over his fodder? | A AINAQ-FRE OLI-DShE EM IGOA-ShUR OL-BLILU | ה הינהק-פרא עלי-דשא אם יגעה-שור על-בלילו | ||
| 6 Can that which has no savour be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the juice of mallows? | U AIEKL ThFL MBLI-MLCh EM-ISh-TOM BRIR ChLMUTh | ו היאכל תפל מבלי-מלח אם-יש-טעם בריר חלמות | ||
| 7 My soul refuses to touch them; they are as the sickness of my flesh. | Z MENA LNGUO NFShI AMA KDUI LChMI | ז מאנה לנגוע נפשי המה כדוי לחמי | ||
| 8 O that I might have my request, and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! | Ch MI-IThN ThBUE ShELThI UThQUThI IThN ELUA | ח מי-יתן תבוא שאלתי ותקותי יתן אלוה | ||
| 9 Even that it would please God to crush me; that He would let loose His hand, and cut me off! | T UIEL ELUA UIDKENI IThR IDU UIBTsONI | ט ויאל אלוה וידכאני יתר ידו ויבצעני | ||
| 10 Then should I yet have comfort; yes, I would exult in pain, though He spare not; for I have not denied the words of the Holy One. | I UThAI-OUD NChMThI UESLDA BChILA LE IChMUL KI-LE KChDThI EMRI QDUSh | י ותהי-עוד נחמתי ואסלדה בחילה לא יחמול כי-לא כחדתי אמרי קדוש | ||

| 12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass? | IB EM-KCh EBNIM KChI EM-BShRI NChUSh | יב אם-כח אבנים כחי אם-בשרי נחוש | ||
| 13 Is it that I have no help in me, and that sound wisdom is driven quite from me? | IG AEM EIN OZRThI BI UThShIA NDChA MMNI | יג האם אין עזרתי בי ותשיה נדחה ממני | ||
| 14 To him that is ready to faint kindness is due from his friend, even to him that forsakes the fear of the Almighty. | ID LMS MROAU ChSD UIRETh ShDI IOZUB | יד למס מרעהו חסד ויראת שדי יעזוב | ||
| 15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, as the channel of brooks that overflow, | TU EChI BGDU KMU-NChL KEFIQ NChLIM IOBRU | טו אחי בגדו כמו-נחל כאפיק נחלים יעברו | ||
| 16 Which are black by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow hides itself; | TZ AQDRIM MNI-QRCh OLIMU IThOLM-ShLG | טז הקדרים מני-קרח עלימו יתעלם-שלג | ||
| 17 What time they wax warm, they vanish, when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. | IZ BOTh IZRBU NTsMThU BChMU NDOKU MMQUMM | יז בעת יזרבו נצמתו בחמו נדעכו ממקומם | ||
| 18 The paths of their way do wind, they go up into the waste, and are lost. | ICh ILFThU ERChUTh DRKM IOLU BThAU UIEBDU | יח ילפתו ארחות דרכם יעלו בתהו ויאבדו | ||
| 19 The caravans of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them-- | IT ABITU ERChUTh ThME ALIKTh ShBE QUU-LMU | יט הביטו ארחות תמא הליכת שבא קוו-למו | ||
| 20 They were ashamed because they had hoped; they came thither, and were confounded. | K BShU KI-BTCh BEU ODIA UIChFRU | כ בשו כי-בטח באו עדיה ויחפרו | ||
| 21 For now you are become His; you see a terror, and are afraid. | KE KI-OThA AIIThM LE ThREU ChThTh UThIREU | כא כי-עתה הייתם לא תראו חתת ותיראו | ||
| 22 Did I say: 'Give to me'? or: 'Offer a present for me of your substance'? | KB AKI-EMRThI ABU LI UMKChKM ShChDU BODI | כב הכי-אמרתי הבו לי ומכחכם שחדו בעדי | ||
| 23 or: 'Deliver me from the adversary's hand'? or: 'Redeem me from the hand of the oppressors'? | KG UMLTUNI MID-TsR UMID ORITsIM ThFDUNI | כג ומלטוני מיד-צר ומיד עריצים תפדוני | ||
| 24 Teach me, and I will hold my peace; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. | KD AURUNI UENI EChRISh UMA-ShGIThI ABINU LI | כד הורוני ואני אחריש ומה-שגיתי הבינו לי | ||
| 25 How forcible are words of uprightness! But what does your arguing argue? | KA MA-NMRTsU EMRI-IShR UMA-IUKICh AUKCh MKM | כה מה-נמרצו אמרי-ישר ומה-יוכיח הוכח מכם | ||
| 26 Do you hold words to be an argument, but the speeches of one that is desperate to be wind? | KU ALAUKCh MLIM ThChShBU ULRUCh EMRI NUESh | כו הלהוכח מלים תחשבו ולרוח אמרי נואש | ||
| 27 Yes, you would cast lots on the fatherless, and dig a pit for your friend. | KZ EF-OL-IThUM ThFILU UThKRU OL-RIOKM | כז אף-על-יתום תפילו ותכרו על-ריעכם | ||
| 28 Now therefore be pleased to look on me; for surely I shall not lie to your face. | KCh UOThA AUEILU FNU-BI UOL-FNIKM EM-EKZB | כח ועתה הואילו פנו-בי ועל-פניכם אם-אכזב | ||
| 29 Return, I pray you, let there be no injustice; yes, return again, my cause is righteous. | KT ShUBU-NE EL-ThAI OULA UShBI (UShBU) OUD TsDQI-BA | כט שובו-נא אל-תהי עולה ושבי (ושבו) עוד צדקי-בה | ||
| 30 Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my taste discern crafty devices? | L AISh-BLShUNI OULA EM-ChKI LE-IBIN AUUTh | ל היש-בלשוני עולה אם-חכי לא-יבין הוות | ||
