| 2 Should a wise man make answer with windy knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind? | B AChKM IONA DOTh-RUCh UIMLE QDIM BTNU | ב החכם יענה דעת-רוח וימלא קדים בטנו | ||
| 3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches wherewith he can do no good? | G AUKCh BDBR LE-ISKUN UMLIM LE-IUOIL BM | ג הוכח בדבר לא-יסכון ומלים לא-יועיל בם | ||
| 4 Yes, you do away with fear, and impair devotion before God. | D EF-EThA ThFR IREA UThGRO ShIChA LFNI-EL | ד אף-אתה תפר יראה ותגרע שיחה לפני-אל | ||
| 5 For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the tongue of the crafty. | A KI IELF OUNK FIK UThBChR LShUN ORUMIM | ה כי יאלף עונך פיך ותבחר לשון ערומים | ||
| 6 Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; yes, your own lips testify against you. | U IRShIOK FIK ULE-ENI UShFThIK IONU-BK | ו ירשיעך פיך ולא-אני ושפתיך יענו-בך | ||
| 7 Are you the first man that was born? Or were you brought forth before the hills? | Z AREIShUN EDM ThULD ULFNI GBOUTh ChULLTh | ז הראישון אדם תולד ולפני גבעות חוללת | ||
| 8 Dost you hearken in the council of God? Dost you restrain wisdom to yourself? | Ch ABSUD ELUA ThShMO UThGRO ELIK ChKMA | ח הבסוד אלוה תשמע ותגרע אליך חכמה | ||
| 9 What know you, that we know not? What understand you, which is not in us? | T MA-IDOTh ULE NDO ThBIN ULE-OMNU AUE | ט מה-ידעת ולא נדע תבין ולא-עמנו הוא | ||
| 10 With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much older than your father. | I GM-ShB GM-IShISh BNU KBIR MEBIK IMIM | י גם-שב גם-ישיש בנו כביר מאביך ימים | ||
| 11 Are the consolations of God too small for you, and the word that deals gently with you? | IE AMOT MMK ThNChUMUTh EL UDBR LET OMK | יא המעט ממך תנחומות אל ודבר לאט עמך | ||
| 12 Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes wink? | IB MA-IQChK LBK UMA-IRZMUN OINIK | יב מה-יקחך לבך ומה-ירזמון עיניך | ||
| 13 That you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth. | IG KI-ThShIB EL-EL RUChK UATsETh MFIK MLIN | יג כי-תשיב אל-אל רוחך והצאת מפיך מלין | ||
| 14 What is man, that he should be clean? He that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? | ID MA-ENUSh KI-IZKA UKI-ITsDQ ILUD EShA | יד מה-אנוש כי-יזכה וכי-יצדק ילוד אשה | ||
| 15 Behold, He puts no trust in His holy ones; yes, the heavens are not clean in His sight. | TU AN BQDShU LE IEMIN UShMIM LE-ZKU BOINIU | טו הן בקדשו לא יאמין ושמים לא-זכו בעיניו | ||
| 16 How much less one that is abominable and impure, man who drinks iniquity like water! | TZ EF KI-NThOB UNELCh EISh-ShThA KMIM OULA | טז אף כי-נתעב ונאלח איש-שתה כמים עולה | ||
| 17 I will tell you, hear you me; and that which I have seen I will declare-- | IZ EChUK ShMO-LI UZA-ChZIThI UESFRA | יז אחוך שמע-לי וזה-חזיתי ואספרה | ||
| 18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it; | ICh EShR-ChKMIM IGIDU ULE KChDU MEBUThM | יח אשר-חכמים יגידו ולא כחדו מאבותם | ||
| 19 To whom alone the land was given, and no stranger passed among them. | IT LAM LBDM NThNA AERTs ULE-OBR ZR BThUKM | יט להם לבדם נתנה הארץ ולא-עבר זר בתוכם | ||
| 20 The wicked man travails with pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor. | K KL-IMI RShO AUE MThChULL UMSFR ShNIM NTsFNU LORITs | כ כל-ימי רשע הוא מתחולל ומספר שנים נצפנו לעריץ | ||
| 21 A sound of terrors is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come on him. | KE QUL-FChDIM BEZNIU BShLUM ShUDD IBUENU | כא קול-פחדים באזניו בשלום שודד יבואנו | ||
| 22 He believes not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword. | KB LE-IEMIN ShUB MNI-ChShK UTsFU (UTsFUI) AUE ELI-ChRB | כב לא-יאמין שוב מני-חשך וצפו (וצפוי) הוא אלי-חרב | ||
| 23 He wanders abroad for bread: 'Where is it?' He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand. | KG NDD AUE LLChM EIA IDO KI-NKUN BIDU IUM-ChShK | כג נדד הוא ללחם איה ידע כי-נכון בידו יום-חשך | ||
| 24 Distress and anguish overwhelm him; they prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle. | KD IBOThAU TsR UMTsUQA ThThQFAU KMLK OThID LKIDUR | כד יבעתהו צר ומצוקה תתקפהו כמלך עתיד לכידור | ||
| 25 Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty; | KA KI-NTA EL-EL IDU UEL-ShDI IThGBR | כה כי-נטה אל-אל ידו ואל-שדי יתגבר | ||
| 26 He runs on him with a stiff neck, with the thick bosses of his bucklers. | KU IRUTs ELIU BTsUER BOBI GBI MGNIU | כו ירוץ אליו בצואר בעבי גבי מגניו | ||
| 27 Because he has covered his face with his fatness, and made collops of fat on his loins; | KZ KI-KSA FNIU BChLBU UIOSh FIMA OLI-KSL | כז כי-כסה פניו בחלבו ויעש פימה עלי-כסל | ||
| 28 He has dwelt in desolate cities, in houses which no man would inhabit, which were ready to become heaps. | KCh UIShKUN ORIM NKChDUTh BThIM LE-IShBU LMU EShR AThOThDU LGLIM | כח וישכון ערים נכחדות בתים לא-ישבו למו אשר התעתדו לגלים | ||
| 29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall their produce bend to the earth. | KT LE-IOShR ULE-IQUM ChILU ULE-ITA LERTs MNLM | כט לא-יעשר ולא-יקום חילו ולא-יטה לארץ מנלם | ||
| 30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of His mouth shall he go away. | L LE-ISUR MNI-ChShK INQThU ThIBSh ShLABTh UISUR BRUCh FIU | ל לא-יסור מני-חשך ינקתו תיבש שלהבת ויסור ברוח פיו | ||
| 31 Let him not trust in vanity, deceiving himself; for vanity shall be his recompense. | LE EL-IEMN BShU NThOA KI-ShUE ThAIA ThMURThU | לא אל-יאמן בשו נתעה כי-שוא תהיה תמורתו | ||
| 32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be leafy. | LB BLE-IUMU ThMLE UKFThU LE RONNA | לב בלא-יומו תמלא וכפתו לא רעננה | ||
| 33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive. | LG IChMS KGFN BSRU UIShLK KZITh NTsThU | לג יחמס כגפן בסרו וישלך כזית נצתו | ||
| 34 For the company of the godless shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery. | LD KI-ODTh ChNF GLMUD UESh EKLA EALI-ShChD | לד כי-עדת חנף גלמוד ואש אכלה אהלי-שחד | ||
| 35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, and their belly prepares deceit. | LA ARA OML UILD EUN UBTNM ThKIN MRMA | לה הרה עמל וילד און ובטנם תכין מרמה | ||
