Haggai Begins Temple Building | ||||
| 1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of IAUA by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying: | E BShNTh ShThIM LDRIUSh AMLK BChDSh AShShI BIUM EChD LChDSh AIA DBR-IAUA BID-ChGI ANBIE EL-ZRBBL BN-ShELThIEL FChTh IAUDA UEL-IAUShO BN-IAUTsDQ AKAN AGDUL LEMR | א בשנת שתים לדריוש המלך בחדש הששי ביום אחד לחדש היה דבר-יהוה ביד-חגי הנביא אל-זרבבל בן-שאלתיאל פחת יהודה ואל-יהושע בן-יהוצדק הכהן הגדול לאמר | ||
| 2 'Thus speaks IAUA of hosts, saying: This people say: The time is not come, the time that IAUA's house should be built.' | B KA EMR IAUA TsBEUTh LEMR AOM AZA EMRU LE OTh-BE OTh-BITh IAUA LABNUTh | ב כה אמר יהוה צבאות לאמר העם הזה אמרו לא עת-בא עת-בית יהוה להבנות | ||
| 3 Then came the word of IAUA by Haggai the prophet, saying: | G UIAI DBR-IAUA BID-ChGI ANBIE LEMR | ג ויהי דבר-יהוה ביד-חגי הנביא לאמר | ||
| 4 'Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your cieled houses, while this house lays waste? | D AOTh LKM EThM LShBTh BBThIKM SFUNIM UABITh AZA ChRB | ד העת לכם אתם לשבת בבתיכם ספונים והבית הזה חרב | ||
| 5 Now therefore thus says IAUA of hosts: Consider your ways. | A UOThA KA EMR IAUA TsBEUTh ShIMU LBBKM OL-DRKIKM | ה ועתה כה אמר יהוה צבאות שימו לבבכם על-דרכיכם | ||
| 6 You have sown much, and brought in little, you eat, but you have not enough, you drink, but you are not filled with drink, you clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earns wages earns wages for a bag with holes. | U ZROThM ARBA UABE MOT EKUL UEIN-LShBOA ShThU UEIN-LShKRA LBUSh UEIN-LChM LU UAMShThKR MShThKR EL-TsRUR NQUB | ו זרעתם הרבה והבא מעט אכול ואין-לשבעה שתו ואין-לשכרה לבוש ואין-לחם לו והמשתכר משתכר אל-צרור נקוב | ||
| 7 Thus says IAUA of hosts: Consider your ways. | Z KA EMR IAUA TsBEUTh ShIMU LBBKM OL-DRKIKM | ז כה אמר יהוה צבאות שימו לבבכם על-דרכיכם | ||
| 8 Go up to the hill-country, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says IAUA. | Ch OLU AAR UABEThM OTs UBNU ABITh UERTsA-BU UEKBD (UEKBDA) EMR IAUA | ח עלו ההר והבאתם עץ ובנו הבית וארצה-בו ואכבד (ואכבדה) אמר יהוה | ||
| 9 You looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I did blow on it. Why? says IAUA of hosts. Because of My house that lays waste, while you run every man for his own house. | T FNA EL-ARBA UANA LMOT UABEThM ABITh UNFChThI BU ION MA NEM IAUA TsBEUTh ION BIThI EShR-AUE ChRB UEThM RTsIM EISh LBIThU | ט פנה אל-הרבה והנה למעט והבאתם הבית ונפחתי בו יען מה נאם יהוה צבאות יען ביתי אשר-הוא חרב ואתם רצים איש לביתו | ||
| 10 Therefore over you the heaven has kept back, so that there is no dew, and the earth has kept back her produce. | I OL-KN OLIKM KLEU ShMIM MTL UAERTs KLEA IBULA | י על-כן עליכם כלאו שמים מטל והארץ כלאה יבולה | ||
| 11 I called for a drought on the land, and on the mountains, and on the corn, and on the wine, and on the oil, and on that which the ground brings forth, and on men, and on cattle, and on all the labour of the hands.' | IE UEQRE ChRB OL-AERTs UOL-AARIM UOL-ADGN UOL-AThIRUSh UOL-AITsAR UOL EShR ThUTsIE AEDMA UOL-AEDM UOL-ABAMA UOL KL-IGIO KFIM | יא ואקרא חרב על-הארץ ועל-ההרים ועל-הדגן ועל-התירוש ועל-היצהר ועל אשר תוציא האדמה ועל-האדם ועל-הבהמה ועל כל-יגיע כפים | ||
| 12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, hearkened to the voice of IAUA their God, and to the words of Haggai the prophet, as IAUA their God had sent him; and the people did fear before IAUA. | IB UIShMO ZRBBL BN-ShLThIEL UIAUShO BN-IAUTsDQ AKAN AGDUL UKL ShERITh AOM BQUL IAUA ELAIAM UOL-DBRI ChGI ANBIE KEShR ShLChU IAUA ELAIAM UIIREU AOM MFNI IAUA | יב וישמע זרבבל בן-שלתיאל ויהושע בן-יהוצדק הכהן הגדול וכל שארית העם בקול יהוה אלהיהם ועל-דברי חגי הנביא כאשר שלחו יהוה אלהיהם וייראו העם מפני יהוה | ||
| 13 Then spoke Haggai IAUA's messenger of IAUA's message to the people, saying: 'I am with you, says IAUA.' | IG UIEMR ChGI MLEK IAUA BMLEKUTh IAUA LOM LEMR ENI EThKM NEM-IAUA | יג ויאמר חגי מלאך יהוה במלאכות יהוה לעם לאמר אני אתכם נאם-יהוה | ||
| 14 IAUA stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of IAUA of hosts, their God, | ID UIOR IAUA ETh-RUCh ZRBBL BN-ShLThIEL FChTh IAUDA UETh-RUCh IAUShO BN-IAUTsDQ AKAN AGDUL UETh-RUCh KL ShERITh AOM UIBEU UIOShU MLEKA BBITh-IAUA TsBEUTh ELAIAM | יד ויער יהוה את-רוח זרבבל בן-שלתיאל פחת יהודה ואת-רוח יהושע בן-יהוצדק הכהן הגדול ואת-רוח כל שארית העם ויבאו ויעשו מלאכה בבית-יהוה צבאות אלהיהם | ||
