| 5 Then arose Ezra, and made the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word. | 7 They made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem; | Z UIOBIRU QUL BIAUDA UIRUShLM LKL BNI AGULA LAQBTs IRUShLM | ז ויעבירו קול ביהודה וירושלם לכל בני הגולה להקבץ ירושלם |

| 10 Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them: 'You have broken faith, and have married foreign women, to increase the guilt of Israel. | I UIQM OZRE AKAN UIEMR ELAM EThM MOLThM UThShIBU NShIM NKRIUTh LAUSIF OL EShMTh IShREL | י ויקם עזרא הכהן ויאמר אלהם אתם מעלתם ותשיבו נשים נכריות להוסיף על אשמת ישראל |

| 12 Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice: 'As you have said, so it is for us to do. | IB UIONU KL AQAL UIEMRU QUL GDUL KN KDBRIK (KDBRK) OLINU LOShUTh | יב ויענו כל הקהל ויאמרו קול גדול כן כדבריך (כדברך) עלינו לעשות |
| 13 But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two; for we have greatly transgressed in this matter. | IG EBL AOM RB UAOTh GShMIM UEIN KCh LOMUD BChUTs UAMLEKA LE LIUM EChD ULE LShNIM KI ARBINU LFShO BDBR AZA | יג אבל העם רב והעת גשמים ואין כח לעמוד בחוץ והמלאכה לא ליום אחד ולא לשנים כי הרבינו לפשע בדבר הזה |

| 16 The children of the captivity did so.
