Hezekiah's Illness and Recovery | ||||
| 1 In those days was Hezekiah sick to death. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him: 'Thus says IAUA: Set your house in order; for you shall die, and not live.' | E BIMIM AAM ChLA ChZQIAU LMUTh UIBE ELIU IShOIAU BN-EMUTs ANBIE UIEMR ELIU KA-EMR IAUA TsU LBIThK KI MTh EThA ULE ThChIA | א בימים ההם חלה חזקיהו למות ויבא אליו ישעיהו בן-אמוץ הנביא ויאמר אליו כה-אמר יהוה צו לביתך כי מת אתה ולא תחיה | ||
| 2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to IAUA, saying: | B UISB ETh-FNIU EL-AQIR UIThFLL EL-IAUA LEMR | ב ויסב את-פניו אל-הקיר ויתפלל אל-יהוה לאמר | ||
| 3 'Remember now, O IAUA, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart, and have done that which is good in Your sight.' Hezekiah wept sore. | G ENA IAUA ZKR-NE ETh EShR AThALKThI LFNIK BEMTh UBLBB ShLM UATUB BOINIK OShIThI UIBK ChZQIAU BKI GDUL | ג אנה יהוה זכר-נא את אשר התהלכתי לפניך באמת ובלבב שלם והטוב בעיניך עשיתי ויבך חזקיהו בכי גדול | ||
| 4 It came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out of the inner court of the city, that the word of IAUA came to him, saying: | D UIAI IShOIAU LE ITsE AOIR (ChTsR) AThIKNA UDBR-IAUA AIA ELIU LEMR | ד ויהי ישעיהו לא יצא העיר (חצר) התיכנה ודבר-יהוה היה אליו לאמר | ||
| 5 'Return, and say to Hezekiah the prince of My people: Thus says IAUA, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you; on the third day you shall go up to the house of IAUA. | A ShUB UEMRTh EL-ChZQIAU NGID-OMI KA-EMR IAUA ELAI DUD EBIK ShMOThI ETh-ThFLThK REIThI ETh-DMOThK ANNI RFE LK BIUM AShLIShI ThOLA BITh IAUA | ה שוב ואמרת אל-חזקיהו נגיד-עמי כה-אמר יהוה אלהי דוד אביך שמעתי את-תפלתך ראיתי את-דמעתך הנני רפא לך ביום השלישי תעלה בית יהוה | ||
| 6 I will add to your days fifteen years; and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for Mine own sake, and for My servant David's sake.' | U UASFThI OL-IMIK ChMSh OShRA ShNA UMKF MLK-EShUR ETsILK UETh AOIR AZETh UGNUThI OL-AOIR AZETh LMONI ULMON DUD OBDI | ו והספתי על-ימיך חמש עשרה שנה ומכף מלך-אשור אצילך ואת העיר הזאת וגנותי על-העיר הזאת למעני ולמען דוד עבדי | ||
| 7 Isaiah said: 'Take a cake of figs.' They took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. | Z UIEMR IShOIAU QChU DBLTh ThENIM UIQChU UIShIMU OL-AShChIN UIChI | ז ויאמר ישעיהו קחו דבלת תאנים ויקחו וישימו על-השחין ויחי | ||
| 8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah: 'What shall be the sign that IAUA will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of IAUA the third day?' | Ch UIEMR ChZQIAU EL-IShOIAU MA EUTh KI-IRFE IAUA LI UOLIThI BIUM AShLIShI BITh IAUA | ח ויאמר חזקיהו אל-ישעיהו מה אות כי-ירפא יהוה לי ועליתי ביום השלישי בית יהוה | ||
| 9 Isaiah said: 'This shall be the sign to you from IAUA, that IAUA will do the thing that He has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? | T UIEMR IShOIAU ZA-LK AEUTh METh IAUA KI IOShA IAUA ETh-ADBR EShR DBR ALK ATsL OShR MOLUTh EM-IShUB OShR MOLUTh | ט ויאמר ישעיהו זה-לך האות מאת יהוה כי יעשה יהוה את-הדבר אשר דבר הלך הצל עשר מעלות אם-ישוב עשר מעלות | ||
| 10 Hezekiah answered: 'It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten degrees; nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.' | I UIEMR IChZQIAU NQL LTsL LNTUTh OShR MOLUTh LE KI IShUB ATsL EChRNITh OShR MOLUTh | י ויאמר יחזקיהו נקל לצל לנטות עשר מעלות לא כי ישוב הצל אחרנית עשר מעלות | ||
| 11 Isaiah the prophet cried to IAUA; and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz. | IE UIQRE IShOIAU ANBIE EL-IAUA UIShB ETh-ATsL BMOLUTh EShR IRDA BMOLUTh EChZ EChRNITh OShR MOLUTh | יא ויקרא ישעיהו הנביא אל-יהוה וישב את-הצל במעלות אשר ירדה במעלות אחז אחרנית עשר מעלות | ||
| 12 At that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent a letter and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. | IB BOTh AAIE ShLCh BREDK BLEDN BN-BLEDN MLK-BBL SFRIM UMNChA EL-ChZQIAU KI ShMO KI ChLA ChZQIAU | יב בעת ההיא שלח בראדך בלאדן בן-בלאדן מלך-בבל ספרים ומנחה אל-חזקיהו כי שמע כי חלה חזקיהו | ||
| 13 Hezekiah hearkened to them, and showed them all his treasure-house, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures; there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. | IG UIShMO OLIAM ChZQIAU UIREM ETh-KL-BITh NKThA ETh-AKSF UETh-AZAB UETh-ABShMIM UETh ShMN ATUB UETh BITh KLIU UETh KL-EShR NMTsE BEUTsRThIU LE-AIA DBR EShR LE-AREM ChZQIAU BBIThU UBKL-MMShLThU | יג וישמע עליהם חזקיהו ויראם את-כל-בית נכתה את-הכסף ואת-הזהב ואת-הבשמים ואת שמן הטוב ואת בית כליו ואת כל-אשר נמצא באוצרתיו לא-היה דבר אשר לא-הראם חזקיהו בביתו ובכל-ממשלתו | ||
| 14 Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and said to him: 'What said these men? and from whence came they to you?' | 15 He said: 'What have they seen in your house?' | 16 Isaiah said to Hezekiah: 'Hear the word of IAUA. | TZ UIEMR IShOIAU EL-ChZQIAU ShMO DBR-IAUA | טז ויאמר ישעיהו אל-חזקיהו שמע דבר-יהוה | ||
| 17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says IAUA. | IZ ANA IMIM BEIM UNShE KL-EShR BBIThK UEShR ETsRU EBThIK OD-AIUM AZA BBLA LE-IUThR DBR EMR IAUA | יז הנה ימים באים ונשא כל-אשר בביתך ואשר אצרו אבתיך עד-היום הזה בבלה לא-יותר דבר אמר יהוה | ||
| 18 Of your sons that shall issue from you, whom you shall beget, shall they take away; and they shall be officers in the palace of the king of Babylon.' | ICh UMBNIK EShR ITsEU MMK EShR ThULID IQCh (IQChU) UAIU SRISIM BAIKL MLK BBL | יח ומבניך אשר יצאו ממך אשר תוליד יקח (יקחו) והיו סריסים בהיכל מלך בבל | ||
| 19 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah: 'Good is the word of IAUA which you have spoken.' He said moreover: 'Is it not so, if peace and truth shall be in my days?' | IT UIEMR ChZQIAU EL-IShOIAU TUB DBR-IAUA EShR DBRTh UIEMR ALUE EM-ShLUM UEMTh IAIA BIMI | יט ויאמר חזקיהו אל-ישעיהו טוב דבר-יהוה אשר דברת ויאמר הלוא אם-שלום ואמת יהיה בימי | ||
| 20 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? | K UIThR DBRI ChZQIAU UKL-GBURThU UEShR OShA ETh-ABRKA UETh-AThOLA UIBE ETh-AMIM AOIRA ALE-AM KThUBIM OL-SFR DBRI AIMIM LMLKI IAUDA | כ ויתר דברי חזקיהו וכל-גבורתו ואשר עשה את-הברכה ואת-התעלה ויבא את-המים העירה הלא-הם כתובים על-ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה | ||
| 21 Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead. | KE UIShKB ChZQIAU OM-EBThIU UIMLK MNShA BNU ThChThIU | כא וישכב חזקיהו עם-אבתיו וימלך מנשה בנו תחתיו | ||
