Hoshea Reigns over Israel | ||||
| 1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel, and reigned nine years. | E BShNTh ShThIM OShRA LEChZ MLK IAUDA MLK AUShO BN-ELA BShMRUN OL-IShREL ThShO ShNIM | א בשנת שתים עשרה לאחז מלך יהודה מלך הושע בן-אלה בשמרון על-ישראל תשע שנים | ||
| 2 He did that which was evil in the sight of IAUA, yet not as the kings of Israel that were before him. | B UIOSh ARO BOINI IAUA RQ LE KMLKI IShREL EShR AIU LFNIU | ב ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה רק לא כמלכי ישראל אשר היו לפניו | ||
| 3 Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him presents. | G OLIU OLA ShLMNESR MLK EShUR UIAI-LU AUShO OBD UIShB LU MNChA | ג עליו עלה שלמנאסר מלך אשור ויהי-לו הושע עבד וישב לו מנחה | ||
| 4 The king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year; therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison. | D UIMTsE MLK-EShUR BAUShO QShR EShR ShLCh MLEKIM EL-SUE MLK-MTsRIM ULE-AOLA MNChA LMLK EShUR KShNA BShNA UIOTsRAU MLK EShUR UIESRAU BITh KLE | ד וימצא מלך-אשור בהושע קשר אשר שלח מלאכים אל-סוא מלך-מצרים ולא-העלה מנחה למלך אשור כשנה בשנה ויעצרהו מלך אשור ויאסרהו בית כלא | ||
| 5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years. | A UIOL MLK-EShUR BKL-AERTs UIOL ShMRUN UITsR OLIA ShLSh ShNIM | ה ויעל מלך-אשור בכל-הארץ ויעל שמרון ויצר עליה שלש שנים | ||
| 6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and in Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. | U BShNTh AThShOITh LAUShO LKD MLK-EShUR ETh-ShMRUN UIGL ETh-IShREL EShURA UIShB EUThM BChLCh UBChBUR NAR GUZN UORI MDI | ו בשנת התשעית להושע לכד מלך-אשור את-שמרון ויגל את-ישראל אשורה וישב אותם בחלח ובחבור נהר גוזן וערי מדי | ||
| 7 It was so, because the children of Israel had sinned against IAUA their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, | Z UIAI KI-ChTEU BNI-IShREL LIAUA ELAIAM AMOLA EThM MERTs MTsRIM MThChTh ID FROA MLK-MTsRIM UIIREU ELAIM EChRIM | ז ויהי כי-חטאו בני-ישראל ליהוה אלהיהם המעלה אתם מארץ מצרים מתחת יד פרעה מלך-מצרים וייראו אלהים אחרים | ||
| 8 and walked in the statutes of the nations, whom IAUA cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they practised; | Ch UILKU BChQUTh AGUIM EShR AURISh IAUA MFNI BNI IShREL UMLKI IShREL EShR OShU | ח וילכו בחקות הגוים אשר הוריש יהוה מפני בני ישראל ומלכי ישראל אשר עשו | ||
| 9 and the children of Israel did impute things that were not right to IAUA their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city; | T UIChFEU BNI-IShREL DBRIM EShR LE-KN OL-IAUA ELAIAM UIBNU LAM BMUTh BKL-ORIAM MMGDL NUTsRIM OD-OIR MBTsR | ט ויחפאו בני-ישראל דברים אשר לא-כן על-יהוה אלהיהם ויבנו להם במות בכל-עריהם ממגדל נוצרים עד-עיר מבצר | ||
| 10 and they set them up pillars and Asherim on every high hill, and under every leafy tree; | I UITsBU LAM MTsBUTh UEShRIM OL KL-GBOA GBAA UThChTh KL-OTs RONN | י ויצבו להם מצבות ואשרים על כל-גבעה גבהה ותחת כל-עץ רענן | ||
| 11 and there they offered in all the high places, as did the nations whom IAUA carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke IAUA; | IE UIQTRU-ShM BKL-BMUTh KGUIM EShR-AGLA IAUA MFNIAM UIOShU DBRIM ROIM LAKOIS ETh-IAUA | יא ויקטרו-שם בכל-במות כגוים אשר-הגלה יהוה מפניהם ויעשו דברים רעים להכעיס את-יהוה | ||
| 12 and they served idols, whereof IAUA had said to them: 'You shall not do this thing'; | IB UIOBDU AGLLIM EShR EMR IAUA LAM LE ThOShU ETh-ADBR AZA | יב ויעבדו הגללים אשר אמר יהוה להם לא תעשו את-הדבר הזה | ||
| 13 yet IAUA forewarned Israel, and Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and of every seer, saying: 'Turn you from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by the hand of My servants the prophets'; | IG UIOD IAUA BIShREL UBIAUDA BID KL-NBIEU (NBIEI) KL-ChZA LEMR ShBU MDRKIKM AROIM UShMRU MTsUThI ChQUThI KKL-AThURA EShR TsUIThI ETh-EBThIKM UEShR ShLChThI ELIKM BID OBDI ANBIEIM | יג ויעד יהוה בישראל וביהודה ביד כל-נביאו (נביאי) כל-חזה לאמר שבו מדרכיכם הרעים ושמרו מצותי חקותי ככל-התורה אשר צויתי את-אבתיכם ואשר שלחתי אליכם ביד עבדי הנביאים | ||
| 14 notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their neck, like to the neck of their fathers, who believed not in IAUA their God; | ID ULE ShMOU UIQShU ETh-ORFM KORF EBUThM EShR LE AEMINU BIAUA ELAIAM | יד ולא שמעו ויקשו את-ערפם כערף אבותם אשר לא האמינו ביהוה אלהיהם | ||

| 16 and they forsook all the commandments of IAUA their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal; | TZ UIOZBU ETh-KL-MTsUTh IAUA ELAIAM UIOShU LAM MSKA ShNIM (ShNI) OGLIM UIOShU EShIRA UIShThChUU LKL-TsBE AShMIM UIOBDU ETh-ABOL | טז ויעזבו את-כל-מצות יהוה אלהיהם ויעשו להם מסכה שנים (שני) עגלים ויעשו אשירה וישתחוו לכל-צבא השמים ויעבדו את-הבעל | ||
| 17 and they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and gave themselves over to do that which was evil in the sight of IAUA, to provoke Him; | IZ UIOBIRU ETh-BNIAM UETh-BNUThIAM BESh UIQSMU QSMIM UINChShU UIThMKRU LOShUTh ARO BOINI IAUA LAKOISU | יז ויעבירו את-בניהם ואת-בנותיהם באש ויקסמו קסמים וינחשו ויתמכרו לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה להכעיסו | ||
| 18 that IAUA was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. | ICh UIThENF IAUA MED BIShREL UISRM MOL FNIU LE NShER RQ ShBT IAUDA LBDU | יח ויתאנף יהוה מאד בישראל ויסרם מעל פניו לא נשאר רק שבט יהודה לבדו | ||
| 19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of IAUA their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they practised. | IT GM-IAUDA LE ShMR ETh-MTsUTh IAUA ELAIAM UILKU BChQUTh IShREL EShR OShU | יט גם-יהודה לא שמר את-מצות יהוה אלהיהם וילכו בחקות ישראל אשר עשו | ||
| 20 IAUA rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until He had cast them out of His sight. | K UIMES IAUA BKL-ZRO IShREL UIONM UIThNM BID-ShSIM OD EShR AShLIKM MFNIU | כ וימאס יהוה בכל-זרע ישראל ויענם ויתנם ביד-שסים עד אשר השליכם מפניו | ||
| 21 For He rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king; and Jeroboam drew Israel away from following IAUA, and made them sin a great sin. | KE KI-QRO IShREL MOL BITh DUD UIMLIKU ETh-IRBOM BN-NBT UIDE (UIDCh) IRBOM ETh-IShREL MEChRI IAUA UAChTIEM ChTEA GDULA | כא כי-קרע ישראל מעל בית דוד וימליכו את-ירבעם בן-נבט וידא (וידח) ירבעם את-ישראל מאחרי יהוה והחטיאם חטאה גדולה | ||
| 22 The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them; | KB UILKU BNI IShREL BKL-ChTEUTh IRBOM EShR OShA LE-SRU MMNA | כב וילכו בני ישראל בכל-חטאות ירבעם אשר עשה לא-סרו ממנה | ||
| 23 until IAUA removed Israel out of His sight, as He spoke by the hand of all His servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria, to this day. | KG OD EShR-ASIR IAUA ETh-IShREL MOL FNIU KEShR DBR BID KL-OBDIU ANBIEIM UIGL IShREL MOL EDMThU EShURA OD AIUM AZA | כג עד אשר-הסיר יהוה את-ישראל מעל פניו כאשר דבר ביד כל-עבדיו הנביאים ויגל ישראל מעל אדמתו אשורה עד היום הזה | ||
| 24 The king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof. | KD UIBE MLK-EShUR MBBL UMKUThA UMOUE UMChMTh USFRUIM UIShB BORI ShMRUN ThChTh BNI IShREL UIRShU ETh-ShMRUN UIShBU BORIA | כד ויבא מלך-אשור מבבל ומכותה ומעוא ומחמת וספרוים וישב בערי שמרון תחת בני ישראל וירשו את-שמרון וישבו בעריה | ||
| 25 So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not IAUA; therefore IAUA sent lions among them, which killed some of them. | KA UIAI BThChLTh ShBThM ShM LE IREU ETh-IAUA UIShLCh IAUA BAM ETh-AERIUTh UIAIU ARGIM BAM | כה ויהי בתחלת שבתם שם לא יראו את-יהוה וישלח יהוה בהם את-האריות ויהיו הרגים בהם | ||
| 26 Wherefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying: 'The nations which you have carried away, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land; therefore He has sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.' | KU UIEMRU LMLK EShUR LEMR AGUIM EShR AGLITh UThUShB BORI ShMRUN LE IDOU ETh-MShFT ELAI AERTs UIShLCh-BM ETh-AERIUTh UANM MMIThIM EUThM KEShR EINM IDOIM ETh-MShFT ELAI AERTs | כו ויאמרו למלך אשור לאמר הגוים אשר הגלית ותושב בערי שמרון לא ידעו את-משפט אלהי הארץ וישלח-בם את-האריות והנם ממיתים אותם כאשר אינם ידעים את-משפט אלהי הארץ | ||
| 27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying: 'Carry thither one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.' | KZ UITsU MLK-EShUR LEMR ALIKU ShMA EChD MAKANIM EShR AGLIThM MShM UILKU UIShBU ShM UIRM ETh-MShFT ELAI AERTs | כז ויצו מלך-אשור לאמר הליכו שמה אחד מהכהנים אשר הגליתם משם וילכו וישבו שם וירם את-משפט אלהי הארץ | ||
| 28 So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they should fear IAUA. | KCh UIBE EChD MAKANIM EShR AGLU MShMRUN UIShB BBITh-EL UIAI MURA EThM EIK IIREU ETh-IAUA | כח ויבא אחד מהכהנים אשר הגלו משמרון וישב בבית-אל ויהי מורה אתם איך ייראו את-יהוה | ||
| 29 Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt. | KT UIAIU OShIM GUI GUI ELAIU UINIChU BBITh ABMUTh EShR OShU AShMRNIM GUI GUI BORIAM EShR AM IShBIM ShM | כט ויהיו עשים גוי גוי אלהיו ויניחו בבית הבמות אשר עשו השמרנים גוי גוי בעריהם אשר הם ישבים שם | ||
| 30 The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, | L UENShI BBL OShU ETh-SKUTh BNUTh UENShI-KUTh OShU ETh-NRGL UENShI ChMTh OShU ETh-EShIME | ל ואנשי בבל עשו את-סכות בנות ואנשי-כות עשו את-נרגל ואנשי חמת עשו את-אשימא | ||
| 31 and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. | LE UAOUIM OShU NBChZ UETh-ThRThQ UASFRUIM ShRFIM ETh-BNIAM BESh LEDRMLK UONMLK ELA SFRIM (ELAI SFRUIM) | לא והעוים עשו נבחז ואת-תרתק והספרוים שרפים את-בניהם באש לאדרמלך וענמלך אלה ספרים (אלהי ספרוים) | ||
| 32 So they feared IAUA, and made to them from among themselves priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. | LB UIAIU IREIM ETh-IAUA UIOShU LAM MQTsUThM KANI BMUTh UIAIU OShIM LAM BBITh ABMUTh | לב ויהיו יראים את-יהוה ויעשו להם מקצותם כהני במות ויהיו עשים להם בבית הבמות | ||
| 33 They feared IAUA, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away. | LG ETh-IAUA AIU IREIM UETh-ELAIAM AIU OBDIM KMShFT AGUIM EShR-AGLU EThM MShM | לג את-יהוה היו יראים ואת-אלהיהם היו עבדים כמשפט הגוים אשר-הגלו אתם משם | ||

| 36 but IAUA, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, Him shall you fear, and Him shall you worship, and to Him shall you sacrifice; | LU KI EM-ETh-IAUA EShR AOLA EThKM MERTs MTsRIM BKCh GDUL UBZRUO NTUIA EThU ThIREU ULU ThShThChUU ULU ThZBChU | לו כי אם-את-יהוה אשר העלה אתכם מארץ מצרים בכח גדול ובזרוע נטויה אתו תיראו ולו תשתחוו ולו תזבחו | ||
| 37 and the statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment, which He wrote for you, you shall observe to do for evermore; and you shall not fear other gods; | LZ UETh-AChQIM UETh-AMShFTIM UAThURA UAMTsUA EShR KThB LKM ThShMRUN LOShUTh KL-AIMIM ULE ThIREU ELAIM EChRIM | לז ואת-החקים ואת-המשפטים והתורה והמצוה אשר כתב לכם תשמרון לעשות כל-הימים ולא תיראו אלהים אחרים | ||
| 38 and the covenant that I have made with you you shall not forget; neither shall you fear other gods; | LCh UABRITh EShR-KRThI EThKM LE ThShKChU ULE ThIREU ELAIM EChRIM | לח והברית אשר-כרתי אתכם לא תשכחו ולא תיראו אלהים אחרים | ||
| 39 but IAUA your God shall you fear; and He will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.' | LT KI EM-ETh-IAUA ELAIKM ThIREU UAUE ITsIL EThKM MID KL-EIBIKM | לט כי אם-את-יהוה אלהיכם תיראו והוא יציל אתכם מיד כל-איביכם | ||
| 40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner. | M ULE ShMOU KI EM-KMShFTM AREShUN AM OShIM | מ ולא שמעו כי אם-כמשפטם הראשון הם עשים | ||
| 41 So these nations feared IAUA, and served their graven images; their children likewise, and their children's children, as did their fathers, so do they to this day. | ME UIAIU AGUIM AELA IREIM ETh-IAUA UETh-FSILIAM AIU OBDIM GM-BNIAM UBNI BNIAM KEShR OShU EBThM AM OShIM OD AIUM AZA | מא ויהיו הגוים האלה יראים את-יהוה ואת-פסיליהם היו עבדים גם-בניהם ובני בניהם כאשר עשו אבתם הם עשים עד היום הזה | ||
