| 10 Then said David to Jonathan: 'Who shall tell me if perchance your father answer you roughly?' | I UIEMR DUD EL-IAUNThN MI IGID LI EU MA-IONK EBIK QShA | י ויאמר דוד אל-יהונתן מי יגיד לי או מה-יענך אביך קשה | ||
| 11 Jonathan said to David: 'Come and let us go out into the field.' They went out both of them into the field. | IE UIEMR IAUNThN EL-DUD LKA UNTsE AShDA UITsEU ShNIAM AShDA | יא ויאמר יהונתן אל-דוד לכה ונצא השדה ויצאו שניהם השדה | ||
| 12 Jonathan said to David: 'IAUA, the God of Israel--when I have sounded my father about this time to-morrow, or the third day, behold, if there be good toward David, shall I not then send to you, and disclose it to you? | IB UIEMR IAUNThN EL-DUD IAUA ELAI IShREL KI-EChQR ETh-EBI KOTh MChR AShLShITh UANA-TUB EL-DUD ULE-EZ EShLCh ELIK UGLIThI ETh-EZNK | יב ויאמר יהונתן אל-דוד יהוה אלהי ישראל כי-אחקר את-אבי כעת מחר השלשית והנה-טוב אל-דוד ולא-אז אשלח אליך וגליתי את-אזנך | ||

| 14 You shall not only while yet I live show me the kindness of IAUA, that I die not; | ID ULE EM-OUDNI ChI ULE-ThOShA OMDI ChSD IAUA ULE EMUTh | יד ולא אם-עודני חי ולא-תעשה עמדי חסד יהוה ולא אמות | ||
| 15 but also you shall not cut off your kindness from my house for ever; no, not when IAUA has cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.' | TU ULE-ThKRITh ETh-ChSDK MOM BIThI OD-OULM ULE BAKRTh IAUA ETh-EIBI DUD EISh MOL FNI AEDMA | טו ולא-תכרית את-חסדך מעם ביתי עד-עולם ולא בהכרת יהוה את-איבי דוד איש מעל פני האדמה | ||
| 16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David: 'IAUA even require it at the hand of David's enemies.' | TZ UIKRTh IAUNThN OM-BITh DUD UBQSh IAUA MID EIBI DUD | טז ויכרת יהונתן עם-בית דוד ובקש יהוה מיד איבי דוד | ||
| 17 Jonathan caused David to swear again, for the love that he had to him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul. | IZ UIUSF IAUNThN LAShBIO ETh-DUD BEABThU EThU KI-EABTh NFShU EABU | יז ויוסף יהונתן להשביע את-דוד באהבתו אתו כי-אהבת נפשו אהבו | ||
| 18 Jonathan said to him: 'To-morrow is the new moon; and you will be missed, your seat will be empty. | ICh UIEMR-LU IAUNThN MChR ChDSh UNFQDTh KI IFQD MUShBK | יח ויאמר-לו יהונתן מחר חדש ונפקדת כי יפקד מושבך | ||
| 19 In the third day you shall hide yourself well, and come to the place where you didst hide yourself in the day of work, and shall remain by the stone Ezel. | IT UShLShTh ThRD MED UBETh EL-AMQUM EShR-NSThRTh ShM BIUM AMOShA UIShBTh ETsL AEBN AEZL | יט ושלשת תרד מאד ובאת אל-המקום אשר-נסתרת שם ביום המעשה וישבת אצל האבן האזל | ||
| 20 I will shoot three arrows to the side-ward, as though I shot at a mark. | K UENI ShLShTh AChTsIM TsDA EURA LShLCh-LI LMTRA | כ ואני שלשת החצים צדה אורה לשלח-לי למטרה | ||
| 21 And, behold, I will send the lad: Go, find the arrows. If I say to the lad: Behold, the arrows are on this side of you; take them, and come; for there is peace to you and no hurt, as IAUA lives. | KE UANA EShLCh ETh-ANOR LK MTsE ETh-AChTsIM EM-EMR EMR LNOR ANA AChTsIM MMK UANA QChNU UBEA KI-ShLUM LK UEIN DBR ChI-IAUA | כא והנה אשלח את-הנער לך מצא את-החצים אם-אמר אמר לנער הנה החצים ממך והנה קחנו ובאה כי-שלום לך ואין דבר חי-יהוה | ||
| 22 But if I say thus to the boy: Behold, the arrows are beyond you; go your way; for IAUA has sent you away. | KB UEM-KA EMR LOLM ANA AChTsIM MMK UALEA LK KI ShLChK IAUA | כב ואם-כה אמר לעלם הנה החצים ממך והלאה לך כי שלחך יהוה | ||
| 23 As touching the matter which I and you have spoken of, behold, IAUA is between me and you for ever.' | KG UADBR EShR DBRNU ENI UEThA ANA IAUA BINI UBINK OD-OULM | כג והדבר אשר דברנו אני ואתה הנה יהוה ביני ובינך עד-עולם | ||
| 24 So David hid himself in the field; and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to the meal to eat. | KD UISThR DUD BShDA UIAI AChDSh UIShB AMLK OL- (EL-) ALChM LEKUL | כד ויסתר דוד בשדה ויהי החדש וישב המלך על- (אל-) הלחם לאכול | ||
| 25 The king sat on his seat, as at other times, even on the seat by the wall; and Jonathan stood up, and Abner sat by Saul's side; but David's place was empty. | KA UIShB AMLK OL-MUShBU KFOM BFOM EL-MUShB AQIR UIQM IAUNThN UIShB EBNR MTsD ShEUL UIFQD MQUM DUD | כה וישב המלך על-מושבו כפעם בפעם אל-מושב הקיר ויקם יהונתן וישב אבנר מצד שאול ויפקד מקום דוד | ||
| 26 Nevertheless Saul spoke not any thing that day; for he thought: 'Something has befallen him, he is unclean; surely he is not clean.' | KU ULE-DBR ShEUL MEUMA BIUM AAUE KI EMR MQRA AUE BLThI TAUR AUE KI-LE TAUR | כו ולא-דבר שאול מאומה ביום ההוא כי אמר מקרה הוא בלתי טהור הוא כי-לא טהור | ||

| 28 Jonathan answered Saul: 'David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Beth-lehem; | KCh UION IAUNThN ETh-ShEUL NShEL NShEL DUD MOMDI OD-BITh LChM | כח ויען יהונתן את-שאול נשאל נשאל דוד מעמדי עד-בית לחם | ||
| 29 and he said: Let me go, I pray you; for our family has a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he has commanded me; and now, if I have found favour in your eyes, let me get away, I pray you, and see my brethren. | 31 For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. | 32 Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him: 'Wherefore should he be put to death? what has he done?' | LB UION IAUNThN ETh-ShEUL EBIU UIEMR ELIU LMA IUMTh MA OShA | לב ויען יהונתן את-שאול אביו ויאמר אליו למה יומת מה עשה | ||
| 33 Saul cast his spear at him to smite him; whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to put David to death. | LG UITL ShEUL ETh-AChNITh OLIU LAKThU UIDO IAUNThN KI-KLA AIE MOM EBIU LAMITh ETh-DUD | לג ויטל שאול את-החנית עליו להכתו וידע יהונתן כי-כלה היא מעם אביו להמית את-דוד | ||

| 36 He said to his lad: 'Run, find now the arrows which I shoot.' As the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him. | LU UIEMR LNORU RTs MTsE NE ETh-AChTsIM EShR ENKI MURA ANOR RTs UAUE-IRA AChTsI LAOBRU | לו ויאמר לנערו רץ מצא נא את-החצים אשר אנכי מורה הנער רץ והוא-ירה החצי להעברו | ||

| 38 Jonathan cried after the lad: 'Make speed, hasten, stay not.' | 40 Jonathan gave his weapons to his lad, and said to him: 'Go, carry them to the city.' | M UIThN IAUNThN ETh-KLIU EL-ANOR EShR-LU UIEMR LU LK ABIE AOIR | מ ויתן יהונתן את-כליו אל-הנער אשר-לו ויאמר לו לך הביא העיר | ||
