1 Hannah prayed, and said: my heart rejoices in IAUA, my horn is exalted in IAUA; my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in Your salvation. 2 There is none holy as IAUA, for there is none beside You; neither is there any rock like our God. B EIN QDUSh KIAUA KI EIN BLThK UEIN TsUR KELAINU ב אין קדוש כיהוה כי אין בלתך ואין צור כאלהינו
3 Increase not exceeding proud talk; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; for IAUA is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed. 4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. D QShTh GBRIM ChThIM UNKShLIM EZRU ChIL ד קשת גברים חתים ונכשלים אזרו חיל
5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry have ceased; while the barren has borne seven, she that had many children has languished. 6 IAUA kills, and makes alive; He brings down to the grave, and brings up. U IAUA MMITh UMChIA MURID ShEUL UIOL ו יהוה ממית ומחיה מוריד שאול ויעל
7 IAUA makes poor, and makes rich; He brings low, He also lifts up. Z IAUA MURISh UMOShIR MShFIL EF MRUMM ז יהוה מוריש ומעשיר משפיל אף מרומם
8 He raises up the poor out of the dust, He lifts up the needy from the dung-hill, to make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory; for the pillars of the earth are IAUA'S, and He has set the world upon them. 11 Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. The child did minister unto IAUA before Eli the priest. IE UILK ELQNA ARMThA OL BIThU UANOR AIA MShRTh ETh IAUA ETh FNI OLI AKAN יא וילך אלקנה הרמתה על ביתו והנער היה משרת את יהוה את פני עלי הכהן
12 Now the sons of Eli were base men; they knew not IAUA. IB UBNI OLI BNI BLIOL LE IDOU ETh IAUA יב ובני עלי בני בליעל לא ידעו את יהוה
13 The custom of the priests with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a flesh-hook of three teeth in his band; IG UMShFT AKANIM ETh AOM KL EISh ZBCh ZBCh UBE NOR AKAN KBShL ABShR UAMZLG ShLSh AShNIM BIDU יג ומשפט הכהנים את העם כל איש זבח זבח ובא נער הכהן כבשל הבשר והמזלג שלש השנים בידו
14 and he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the flesh-hook brought up the priest took therewith. So they did unto all the Israelites that came thither in Shiloh. 15 Yes, before the fat was made to smoke, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed: 'Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of you, but raw.' 16 If the man said unto him: 'Let the fat be made to smoke first of all, and then take as much as your soul desires'; then he would say: 'Nay, but you shall give it me now; and if not, I will take it by force.' 17 The sin of the young men was very great before IAUA; for the men dealt contemptuously with the offering of IAUA. IZ UThAI ChTETh ANORIM GDULA MED ETh FNI IAUA KI NETsU AENShIM ETh MNChTh IAUA יז ותהי חטאת הנערים גדולה מאד את פני יהוה כי נאצו האנשים את מנחת יהוה
18 But Samuel ministered before IAUA, being a child, girded with a linen ephod. ICh UShMUEL MShRTh ETh FNI IAUA NOR ChGUR EFUD BD יח ושמואל משרת את פני יהוה נער חגור אפוד בד
19 Moreover his mother made him a little robe, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. IT UMOIL QTN ThOShA LU EMU UAOLThA LU MIMIM IMIMA BOLUThA ETh EIShA LZBCh ETh ZBCh AIMIM יט ומעיל קטן תעשה לו אמו והעלתה לו מימים ימימה בעלותה את אישה לזבח את זבח הימים
20 Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say: 'IAUA give you seed of this woman for the loan which was lent to IAUA.' They would go unto their own home. 21 So IAUA remembered Hannah, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before IAUA. {S} KE KI FQD IAUA ETh ChNA UThAR UThLD ShLShA BNIM UShThI BNUTh UIGDL ANOR ShMUEL OM IAUA {S} כא כי פקד יהוה את חנה ותהר ותלד שלשה בנים ושתי בנות ויגדל הנער שמואל עם יהוה {ס}
22 Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how that they lay with the women that did service at the door of the tent of meeting. 23 He said unto them: 'Why do you such things? for I hear evil reports concerning you from all this people. KG UIEMR LAM LMA ThOShUN KDBRIM AELA EShR ENKI ShMO ETh DBRIKM ROIM METh KL AOM ELA כג ויאמר להם למה תעשון כדברים האלה אשר אנכי שמע את דבריכם רעים מאת כל העם אלה

25 If one man sin against another, God shall judge him; but if a man sin against IAUA, who shall entreat for him?' But they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because IAUA would slay them. 27 There came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him: 'Thus says IAUA: Did I reveal Myself unto the house of your father, when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh's house? 28 Did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to go up unto Mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before Me? and did I give unto the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire? 29 Wherefore kick you at My sacrifice and at Mine offering, which I have commanded in My habitation; and honor your sons above Me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel My people? 30 Therefore IAUA, the God of Israel, says: I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me for ever; but now IAUA says: Be it far from Me: for them that honour Me I will honour, and they that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 32 You shall behold a rival in My habitation, in all the good which shall be done to Israel; and there shall not be an old man in your house for ever. LB UABTTh TsR MOUN BKL EShR IITIB ETh IShREL ULE IAIA ZQN BBIThK KL AIMIM לב והבטת צר מעון בכל אשר ייטיב את ישראל ולא יהיה זקן בביתך כל הימים
33 Yet will I not cut off every man of your from Mine altar, to make your eyes to fail, and your heart to languish; and all the increase of your house shall die young men. 35 I will raise Me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in My heart and in My mind; and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before Mine anointed for ever.
