David's Charge to Solomon | ||

| 2 'I go the way of all the earth; be you strong therefore, and show yourself a man; | B ENKI ALK BDRK KL AERTs UChZQTh UAIITh LEISh | ב אנכי הלך בדרך כל הארץ וחזקת והיית לאיש |

| 6 Do therefore according to your wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace. | U UOShITh KChKMThK ULE ThURD ShIBThU BShLM ShEL | ו ועשית כחכמתך ולא תורד שיבתו בשלם שאל |
| 7 But show kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at your table; for so they drew nigh unto me when I fled from Absalom your brother. | Z ULBNI BRZLI AGLODI ThOShA ChSD UAIU BEKLI ShLChNK KI KN QRBU ELI BBRChI MFNI EBShLUM EChIK | ז ולבני ברזלי הגלעדי תעשה חסד והיו באכלי שלחנך כי כן קרבו אלי בברחי מפני אבשלום אחיך |

| 10 David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. {P} | I UIShKB DUD OM EBThIU UIQBR BOIR DUD {F} | י וישכב דוד עם אבתיו ויקבר בעיר דוד {פ} |

| 13 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon. She said: 'Come you peaceably?' He said: 'Peaceably.' | IG UIBE EDNIAU BN ChGITh EL BTh ShBO EM ShLMA UThEMR AShLUM BEK UIEMR ShLUM | יג ויבא אדניהו בן חגית אל בת שבע אם שלמה ותאמר השלום באך ויאמר שלום |

| 18 Bath-sheba said: 'Well; I will speak for you unto the king.' | ICh UThEMR BTh ShBO TUB ENKI EDBR OLIK EL AMLK | יח ותאמר בת שבע טוב אנכי אדבר עליך אל המלך |
| 19 Bath-sheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. | 20 Then she said: 'I ask one small petition of you; deny me not.' | 21 She said: 'Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother to wife.' | KE UThEMR IThN ETh EBIShG AShNMITh LEDNIAU EChIK LEShA | כא ותאמר יתן את אבישג השנמית לאדניהו אחיך לאשה |

| 23 Then king Solomon swore by IAUA, saying: 'God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life. | KG UIShBO AMLK ShLMA BIAUA LEMR KA IOShA LI ELAIM UKA IUSIF KI BNFShU DBR EDNIAU ETh ADBR AZA | כג וישבע המלך שלמה ביהוה לאמר כה יעשה לי אלהים וכה יוסיף כי בנפשו דבר אדניהו את הדבר הזה |
| 24 Now therefore as IAUA lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as He promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day.' | KD UOThA ChI IAUA EShR AKINNI UIUShIBINI (UIUShIBNI) OL KSE DUD EBI UEShR OShA LI BITh KEShR DBR KI AIUM IUMTh EDNIAU | כד ועתה חי יהוה אשר הכינני ויושיביני (ויושיבני) על כסא דוד אבי ואשר עשה לי בית כאשר דבר כי היום יומת אדניהו |
| 25 King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him, so that he died. {S} | KA UIShLCh AMLK ShLMA BID BNIAU BN IAUIDO UIFGO BU UIMTh {S} | כה וישלח המלך שלמה ביד בניהו בן יהוידע ויפגע בו וימת {ס} |
| 26 Unto Abiathar the priest said the king: 'Get you to Anathoth, unto your own fields; for you are deserving of death; but I will not at this time put you to death, because you didst bear the ark of my Lord IAUA before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.' | KU ULEBIThR AKAN EMR AMLK ONThTh LK OL ShDIK KI EISh MUTh EThA UBIUM AZA LE EMIThK KI NShETh ETh ERUN EDNI IAUA LFNI DUD EBI UKI AThONITh BKL EShR AThONA EBI | כו ולאביתר הכהן אמר המלך ענתת לך על שדיך כי איש מות אתה וביום הזה לא אמיתך כי נשאת את ארון אדני יהוה לפני דוד אבי וכי התענית בכל אשר התענה אבי |
| 27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto IAUA; that the word of IAUA might be fulfilled, which He spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh. {P} | KZ UIGRSh ShLMA ETh EBIThR MAIUTh KAN LIAUA LMLE ETh DBR IAUA EShR DBR OL BITh OLI BShLA {F} | כז ויגרש שלמה את אביתר מהיות כהן ליהוה למלא את דבר יהוה אשר דבר על בית עלי בשלה {פ} |
| 28 The tidings came to Joab; for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom. | 29 It was told king Solomon: 'Joab is fled unto the Tent of IAUA, and, behold, he is by the altar.' | 30 Benaiah came to the Tent of IAUA, and said unto him: 'Thus says the king: Come forth.' He said: 'Nay; but I will die here.' | 38 Shimei said unto the king: 'The saying is good; as my lord the king has said, so will your servant do.' | 39 It came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. | 44 The king said moreover to Shimei: 'You know all the wickedness which your heart is privy to, that you didst to David my father; therefore IAUA shall return your wickedness upon your own head. | MD UIEMR AMLK EL ShMOI EThA IDOTh ETh KL AROA EShR IDO LBBK EShR OShITh LDUD EBI UAShIB IAUA ETh ROThK BREShK | מד ויאמר המלך אל שמעי אתה ידעת את כל הרעה אשר ידע לבבך אשר עשית לדוד אבי והשיב יהוה את רעתך בראשך |
| 45 But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before IAUA for ever.' | MA UAMLK ShLMA BRUK UKSE DUD IAIA NKUN LFNI IAUA OD OULM | מה והמלך שלמה ברוך וכסא דוד יהיה נכון לפני יהוה עד עולם |
| 46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell upon him, so that he died.
