Abijam Reigns over Judah | ||||
| 1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat began Abijam to reign over Judah. | E UBShNTh ShMNA OShRA LMLK IRBOM BN-NBT MLK EBIM OL-IAUDA | א ובשנת שמנה עשרה למלך ירבעם בן-נבט מלך אבים על-יהודה | ||
| 2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom. | B ShLSh ShNIM MLK BIRUShLM UShM EMU MOKA BTh-EBIShLUM | ב שלש שנים מלך בירושלם ושם אמו מעכה בת-אבישלום | ||
| 3 He walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not whole with IAUA his God, as the heart of David his father. | G UILK BKL-ChTEUTh EBIU EShR-OShA LFNIU ULE-AIA LBBU ShLM OM-IAUA ELAIU KLBB DUD EBIU | ג וילך בכל-חטאות אביו אשר-עשה לפניו ולא-היה לבבו שלם עם-יהוה אלהיו כלבב דוד אביו | ||
| 4 Nevertheless for David's sake did IAUA his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem; | D KI LMON DUD NThN IAUA ELAIU LU NIR BIRUShLM LAQIM ETh-BNU EChRIU ULAOMID ETh-IRUShLM | ד כי למען דוד נתן יהוה אלהיו לו ניר בירושלם להקים את-בנו אחריו ולהעמיד את-ירושלם | ||

| 6 Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life. | U UMLChMA AIThA BIN-RChBOM UBIN IRBOM KL-IMI ChIIU | ו ומלחמה היתה בין-רחבעם ובין ירבעם כל-ימי חייו | ||
| 7 The rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? | 8 Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead. | Ch UIShKB EBIM OM-EBThIU UIQBRU EThU BOIR DUD UIMLK ESE BNU ThChThIU | ח וישכב אבים עם-אבתיו ויקברו אתו בעיר דוד וימלך אסא בנו תחתיו | ||
| 9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Asa to reign over Judah. | T UBShNTh OShRIM LIRBOM MLK IShREL MLK ESE MLK IAUDA | ט ובשנת עשרים לירבעם מלך ישראל מלך אסא מלך יהודה | ||
| 10 Forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom. | I UERBOIM UEChTh ShNA MLK BIRUShLM UShM EMU MOKA BTh-EBIShLUM | י וארבעים ואחת שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו מעכה בת-אבישלום | ||
| 11 Asa did that which was right in the eyes of IAUA, as did David his father. | IE UIOSh ESE AIShR BOINI IAUA KDUD EBIU | יא ויעש אסא הישר בעיני יהוה כדוד אביו | ||
| 12 He put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. | IB UIOBR AQDShIM MN-AERTs UISR ETh-KL-AGLLIM EShR OShU EBThIU | יב ויעבר הקדשים מן-הארץ ויסר את-כל-הגללים אשר עשו אבתיו | ||
| 13 Also Maacah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron. | IG UGM ETh-MOKA EMU UISRA MGBIRA EShR-OShThA MFLTsTh LEShRA UIKRTh ESE ETh-MFLTsThA UIShRF BNChL QDRUN | יג וגם את-מעכה אמו ויסרה מגבירה אשר-עשתה מפלצת לאשרה ויכרת אסא את-מפלצתה וישרף בנחל קדרון | ||
| 14 But the high places were not taken away; nevertheless the heart of Asa was whole with IAUA all his days. | ID UABMUTh LE-SRU RQ LBB-ESE AIA ShLM OM-IAUA KL-IMIU | יד והבמות לא-סרו רק לבב-אסא היה שלם עם-יהוה כל-ימיו | ||
| 15 He brought into the house of IAUA the things that his father had hallowed, and the things that himself had hallowed, silver, and gold, and vessels. | TU UIBE ETh-QDShI EBIU UQDShU (UQDShI) BITh IAUA KSF UZAB UKLIM | טו ויבא את-קדשי אביו וקדשו (וקדשי) בית יהוה כסף וזהב וכלים | ||
| 16 There was war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel all their days. | TZ UMLChMA AIThA BIN ESE UBIN BOShE MLK-IShREL KL-IMIAM | טז ומלחמה היתה בין אסא ובין בעשא מלך-ישראל כל-ימיהם | ||
| 17 Baasa king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. | IZ UIOL BOShE MLK-IShREL OL-IAUDA UIBN ETh-ARMA LBLThI ThTh ITsE UBE LESE MLK IAUDA | יז ויעל בעשא מלך-ישראל על-יהודה ויבן את-הרמה לבלתי תת יצא ובא לאסא מלך יהודה | ||
| 18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of IAUA, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Aram, that dwelt at Damascus, saying: | ICh UIQCh ESE ETh-KL-AKSF UAZAB ANUThRIM BEUTsRUTh BITh-IAUA UETh-EUTsRUTh BITh MLK (AMLK) UIThNM BID-OBDIU UIShLChM AMLK ESE EL-BN-ADD BN-TBRMN BN-ChZIUN MLK ERM AIShB BDMShQ LEMR | יח ויקח אסא את-כל-הכסף והזהב הנותרים באוצרות בית-יהוה ואת-אוצרות בית מלך (המלך) ויתנם ביד-עבדיו וישלחם המלך אסא אל-בן-הדד בן-טברמן בן-חזיון מלך ארם הישב בדמשק לאמר | ||

| 20 Ben-hadad hearkened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali. | K UIShMO BN-ADD EL-AMLK ESE UIShLCh ETh-ShRI AChILIM EShR-LU OL-ORI IShREL UIK ETh-OIUN UETh-DN UETh EBL BITh-MOKA UETh KL-KNRUTh OL KL-ERTs NFThLI | כ וישמע בן-הדד אל-המלך אסא וישלח את-שרי החילים אשר-לו על-ערי ישראל ויך את-עיון ואת-דן ואת אבל בית-מעכה ואת כל-כנרות על כל-ארץ נפתלי | ||
| 21 It came to pass, when Baasa heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah. | KE UIAI KShMO BOShE UIChDL MBNUTh ETh-ARMA UIShB BThRTsA | כא ויהי כשמע בעשא ויחדל מבנות את-הרמה וישב בתרצה | ||
| 22 Then king Asa made a proclamation to all Judah; none was exempted; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasa had builded; and king Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah. | KB UAMLK ESE AShMIO ETh-KL-IAUDA EIN NQI UIShEU ETh-EBNI ARMA UETh-OTsIA EShR BNA BOShE UIBN BM AMLK ESE ETh-GBO BNIMN UETh-AMTsFA | כב והמלך אסא השמיע את-כל-יהודה אין נקי וישאו את-אבני הרמה ואת-עציה אשר בנה בעשא ויבן בם המלך אסא את-גבע בנימן ואת-המצפה | ||
| 23 Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? | 25 Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. | KA UNDB BN-IRBOM MLK OL-IShREL BShNTh ShThIM LESE MLK IAUDA UIMLK OL-IShREL ShNThIM | כה ונדב בן-ירבעם מלך על-ישראל בשנת שתים לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך על-ישראל שנתים | ||
| 26 He did that which was evil in the sight of IAUA, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin. | KU UIOSh ARO BOINI IAUA UILK BDRK EBIU UBChTEThU EShR AChTIE ETh-IShREL | כו ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה וילך בדרך אביו ובחטאתו אשר החטיא את-ישראל | ||
| 27 Baasa the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasa smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon. | KZ UIQShR OLIU BOShE BN-EChIA LBITh IShShKR UIKAU BOShE BGBThUN EShR LFLShThIM UNDB UKL-IShREL TsRIM OL-GBThUN | כז ויקשר עליו בעשא בן-אחיה לבית יששכר ויכהו בעשא בגבתון אשר לפלשתים ונדב וכל-ישראל צרים על-גבתון | ||
| 28 Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasa slay him, and reigned in his stead. | KCh UIMThAU BOShE BShNTh ShLSh LESE MLK IAUDA UIMLK ThChThIU | כח וימתהו בעשא בשנת שלש לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך תחתיו | ||
